1974 Alfa Romeo GTV Coupé
In 1963, lfa Romeo introduced a replacement to its successful and important Giulietta Sprint coupe, he Giulia. Playing with the diminutive 'etta' used on the Giulietta, he Giulia was meant to be a more mature an refined car than the Giulietta, eaturing increased technical specifications and a new body design.
Penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, he Giulia's clean and distinctive design is considered to be one of the most attractive small coupes of the 1960s and 70s. These small cars struck a charming balance of a large, iry greenhouse with an elegant, weeping body.
All Giulias featured twin-cam four-cylinder engines paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and 4-wheel disc brakes. The most potent road-going version of this successful inline-four was the 130 horsepower 2-liter version introduced in the 2000GT in 1971. US market cars were fitted with SPICA fuel injection. These lovely Italian coupes are purpose-built for spirited, igh-revving driving and offer great performance and beautiful Bertone design in an approachable package.
The cars offered here afford a great opportunity to design and build the car of your choosing, e it custom, acecar or concours winner. The first car pictured was a mild street custom with shaved bumpers and fuel filler with trunk access. It has an excellent interior featuring the highly desirable "flying buttress" seats with good dash and panels. The drivetrain is in excellent condition also. The engine had good, trong, esponsive power and the transmission shifts perfectly through a good clutch. Suspension was taut and brakes and steering were also excellent. The car has fantastic Minilite style wheels with good tires with plenty of tread remaining. It was a quick and fun car to drive. Unfortunately, t was rear-ended by a kid in an SUV with a phone in his hand, hortening the rear of the car and flattening the nose by shunting it in to a delivery van. The insurance company wrote the car off and the owner purchased it back with the intention of a concours rebuild. He acquired a clean shell to restore and swap the parts from the first car over.
Now, ith too many other projects, amily distractions and financial commitments, he project is available for sale.
The white car comes with a SALVAGE California title, hile the donor shell has no paperwork, ut a VIN Verification and a title application will remedy that once the car is back on the road.
The second shell is very straight with good panel fit, nd has only some minor rust in the floor pans and one headlight bucket, ictured, ut replacement panels are readily available and I can refer you to companies if you need it.
Please be aware, am not interested in selling parts. If there is any one part you are interested in, lan on spending a lot of money on it and getting the rest of the car and a spare shell with it.
This is a great opportunity to build the car you want with a minimum of headache. My opinion is to build a concours car. With sales in the $40,000 plus region, nd good quality cars becoming increasingly rare, his is certainly an appreciating classic.
