Description of 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider

For sale: beautiful, original '74 Spider. Red exterior, black interior. NO RUST, NEVER RUSTED. This is the ideal survivor class vehicle. It is a real time capsule car. The vehicle was rust proofed when new. Now the rust proofing is still visible in the engine bay and underside. It is not pretty, but has certainly done its job! The car is completely rust free. All the usual trouble spots are clean. No rot in the sills or jacking points. As a result, the car is TIGHT! All the body gaps are straight and tight. 105 series spiders have a reputation for chassis flexibility, but not this one. Driving it, you realize that reputation only developed when rust ate into the sills at the base of the A-pillar and the whole body started to flex. This car is as tight as other cars with chassis stiffeners on. It is an unrestored, complete and correct survivor. It was owned and maintained for many years by a long term alfa enthusiast known for his meticulous maintenance program. Desirable early stainless steel bumper model.
Engine: SPICA injected 2l. Engine pulls strong. No smoke. SPICA pump recently rebuilt. Perfect oil pressure. Never overheats.
Gear Box: Solid. No whines. 2nd gear synchro weak as is typical for this class.
Rear end: Perfect. No noise. No driveline lash.
Clutch: perfect.
Brakes: no issues
Suspension: Rugh springs and koni shocks. Good body control and damping. Bushings all solid. some squeak in rear.
Steering: No slop.
Interior: no cracks in dash. Upholstery good. windshield no cracks or scratches. Carpet good. Instruments all work.
Top: like new.
Paint: Faded. mediocre quality respray
Overall the car presents as condition 3 cosmetically, but everything functions, is well sorted and amazingly well preserved.
