Description of 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider GRADUATE - VELOCE UPGRADED

This 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate is an example of one of the best years of the Graduate model run and represents a bygone era of Italian Sports cars that will never be seen again....
The condition of this car is excellent and well presented. The car shows very few signs of age and shows 77k miles on odometer. Car has a clean Carfax with no accidents or odometer roll backs. I am the sixth owner. The vehicle is listed as having a duplicate title. A previous owner went to sell the car in 2004 and could not locate the title after a move. He had the dmv issue a new (or duplicate) title for the car. Title is clean and I have Florida title. If you know your Alfas, then you know that the Graduate model came with a vinyl top, vinyl seats and steel wheels as standard equipment. A previous owner restored this vehicle to Veloce standards. A fabric top was installed in place of the cheaper vinyl top, front seats were recovered in black leather, and the correct Veloce alloy wheels were refinished with new Bridgeston tires. The vehicle was repainted in the factory color and new carpet was installed. A brand new fabric top was installed in 2011.
The Body:
This Alfa has been repainted in the original Alfa Red AR530 paint. All of the body panels are rust free and very nice and have never had any sort of accident damage to my knowledge. The paint is in very good overall condition, and it is very shiny. It is evident that a high quality paint job was done but has a scratch. The windshield has no scratches or chips, The door glass is in great shape. Bumpers and trim are all in great shape. The classic "Alfa Romeo" script badge and the "Iniezone" badge are put on.Originally, the front fender badge had a "chrome" coated plastic trim piece. This piece was faded and cracked. I have not been able to locate a new trim piece without purchasing the entire fender piece. Thus I have replaced the "chrome" with a red trim strip to match the paint.
The Interior:
The interior is trimmed in black LEATHER. the seating areas are in EXCELLENT condition. The door panels, dashboard, and console are in very nice original condition as is the carpet. The dash has NO CRACKS at all! The door trim pieces and the radio panel have been replaced with hand carved walnut, stained and finished to match the shift knob. The trim pieces were made by the previous owner.
All of the accessories are in good working order. The power mirrors work, the rear fogs work, dash gauges work. The Alfa has a Sony Bluetooth stereo CD/radio currently installed along with 6" speakers in the kick panels. A removable speaker system sits on the rear deck, behind the seats. It can be quickly unplugged and stored in the trunk. The odometer works and is correct, however the trip odometer reset button is missing.
All of the windows as well as the door locks, trunk release and gas release work. The trunk is in very nice condition, and the trunk carpeting is also in very nice original condition with no rips, tears, or missing pieces. A matching 5th alloy wheel was purchased, refinished and a matching tire was installed for the spare. It is in brand new, never used condition. The car has fully functioning A/C. Both the Fan and Heater work.
Convertible Top & Boot Cover:
The Graduate originially came with a vinyl top. A brand new cloth top was installed in 2011. The top was installed by Bob Hine at Alfa Atlanta. A vintage boot cover that uses plastic snaps has been used, so there are No screw holes in the deck.
The Undercarriage:
The underside of the car is straight. Two owners ago owner had the car repainted the original Alfa Red AR530. At the time of the paint job, the underside was cleared of any rust and painted. There is a little evidence that some patch pieces were used to remove any rust. These are very solid and do not show any signs of thick filler. The rear spare tire well shows this - again, a metal patch panel was used to fill the rusted area and strengthen it. Some filler was used around the panel as it is not perfectly smooth - but it is a spare tire well, so no big deal. The entire area was painted with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator to prevent any future rust. It has seen a few drops on rain on a single occasion, but none other than that.
Engine & Exhaust System:
The engine in this Alfa is the original 2 liter 4-cylinder engine. It needs nothing. The valve cover was powder coated and looks amazing. A new valve cover gasket has been installed. Magnecor wires, new plugs, rotor and distributor cap have been installed. Miscellaneous hoses have been replaced. The entire exhaust system has been replaced with a custom fully stainless steel Magnaflow kit. This includes 1974 Alfa exhausts manifolds that have been professionally Jet Hot Ceramic coated. Magnaflow down pipe with stainless steel oxygen sensor bung welded in place. Stainless steel 2.25" pipe throughout and Magnaflow stainless mufflers in the center and rear. Finished off with a stainless steel polished exhaust tip. Very nice throaty sound. Not too loud but very deep... just right. It runs strong and can be a daily driver.
The Transmission:
The 5-speed ZF transmission shifts well and smooth. There is some pressure getting from first to second gear, which can be avoided by going from first gear to neutral to second gear.If you are looking to "power-shift" and slam through your gears, then a ZF transmission is not for you (and neither is my Alfa!). Treat your transmission like you would an Italian women, and you will never have any problems.
Tires & Wheels:
The tires are like new Bridgestone Potenza G009s. Plenty of grip and good in the rain (but would not recommend traveling in rain). The wheels are original 14" Alfa alloy wheels that have been blasted and refinished with the correct center caps. These wheels made the car look amazing as opposed to the original steel wheels that just look plain and very non-Italian! The CORRECT tire tools and Jack have been found and replaced.

I have had absolutely no issues.
As any classic car it could have problems or continue to run fine as it has, but historically has been a great and dependable car as all previous owners have taken good care of it.
Having a third baby so need the space in the garage and upgrading the family SUV.
