This particular design was penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro. I've always wondered why this body resonated so much. They always stand out at vintage racing and other classic car events. Mr. Giugiaro penned quite a few classics and eventually was honored as Car Designer of the Century in 1999. As with much good design. subtle refinements that collectively amount to timeless elegance are hallmarks success. This is one of the most approachable Giugiaro designs and arguably one of the more endearing and enduring. Scalino means step in Italian and is used to describe an important design detail of this limited run ('63-67) - the 1/4" offset flat grill. The flat grill and incorporated headlights were revolutionary and very modern for the era. They quickly became influential in the GT sport coupe segment in particular. The balance of sheet metal and generous use of glass and the slim A and graceful C pillars are good examples of what sets this coupe apart --
