Description of 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Gold Edition

1988

Alfa Romeo Milano

Gold Edition

VIN: ZARDB1409J1250561

Here's another rare, great driving Alfa I'm able to offer here on Ebay. This Milano represents the zenith (and one of the final years) of what many of us consider the last "true" Alfa Romeo i.e. a balanced, rear wheel drive sports machine. Alfa Milano's were one of the best handling sport sedans of their time. Because of the rather unique configuration of engine in front and transmission in the rear of the car, a near perfect balance (and neutral road handling) was achieved. These are the perfect rally car! Please contact me with any questions. My name is Mark and my direct number is 206/914-1173. You're welcome and encouraged to make an appointment to inspect and test-drive this nice sedan. As a respected Ebay seller with many past online buyers, I want you to bid with confidence knowing the Milano runs and drives as it should and that it's being properly represented to you!

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:

The un-retouched photos really do tell the story. The exterior wears the original bronze factory paint. The trim shows well. Having sold new in Southern California and then spending the next two decades there and in the Bay Area before coming here to the Pacific Northwest in 2015, this vehicle's never been exposed to road salt. I can find NO evidence of ANY body rust here! Please free to climb over, under and around the Milano- I know you'll come up smiling! You will be hard pressed to find a cleaner, more original one anywhere with these low miles.
Take another good look at the interior pictures. The carpets and the upholstery on both the front and rear seats are great. I'm quite impressed with the condition of the dash gauges. They still look as clear and bright as the day this car left Italy three decades ago!
From my photos you'll see the odometer reads just 66,579 miles and is backed up by the AutoCheck report included here in the listing (there's a tab to view and print it out above).

Mechanically, the Alfa feels strong. Even after sitting in my storage warehouse for a few days at a time it never fails to start right up within just a few seconds of engaging the starter - you just can't beat these high-revving fuel-injected V-6s! The automatic transmission shifts up and down between gears as it should with absolutely no slippage. The brakes feel just fine to me. There is at least 95% remaining tread on all four 195/60R14 Toyo "Extensa" radials wrapping the 14-inch alloy wheels (and a good spare in the trunk). Having enjoyed a select number of Alfas over three decades, I've developed a great appreciation for their style and overall driving experience. I KNOW you'll be proud to own and drive this wonderful sedan.

CONDITION:

In total, this is a clean, all-original Milano. I take pride in the vehicles offered here and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly, here's a list of the good and also things needing attention: The car idles, runs and drives as I feel it should: strong battery and charging system, no overheating, and no brake pull or alignment issues! I had my mechanic do a once-over last week and he says everything is in order: the timing was checked, all fluids are clean and topped-off, sparkplugs, wires and cap/rotor are fine. The only real issue I'm aware of is the A/C system was decommissioned by the previous owner. While still all there, he had the drive belt and compressor pulley removed as air wasn't a priority for him up in cool Vancouver, British Columbia. The pulley is stowed under the trunk spare.

Factory floor mats have always been in place to protect the carpets front and back. Both power mirrors and the heated front bucket seats work great. Same goes for the power sunroof and all four power windows; each opens and closes easily. The vintage Blaupunkt stereo switches on, but I have never found the four-digit code needed to electronically unlock it.

Outside, the bronze paint (designated Bianco Argento Metallic) is in exceptionally good condition and still holds quite a shine. I can find no evidence of any paint or body repair work done nor any rust bubbles in any of the usual spots coming up under the paint. Also, no rock chips on the front end or any of the glass. The entire undercarriage is in great, solid condition owing to the pampered storage this car has enjoyed over the years

Please BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a nice car from a respected Ebay seller. I want you to be happy with your purchase (and with me) and that's the main goal! Please don't be upset if I've missed a minor flaw or you're required to spend a small amount on an unforeseen problem down the road. No used car is ever perfect. Having said that, I have every confidence this vehicle could be driven cross-country tomorrow. We're always happy to work with any transporter you choose however, you're welcome to do what many of my previous buyers from as far away as Alaska, Arizona, the Midwest, Florida and even the Mexican Baja have done - fly in (We'll pick you up at Sea-Tac International a few miles away) and then begin an early spring road trip home.

Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, I require that Ebay members with a feedback history of five (5) or fewer transactions call or email before placing a bid. If I don't have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. The phone number to talk directly to me, as outlined above, is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is MARK.

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:

Full payment is due by cash (in person only) or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept credit or debit cards, but I'll first need to send an invoice and ask that you cover the 3.25% fee our card processor charges for any amount above the $500 deposit. Please remember you're bidding to buy and I fully expect the winner to fulfill their Ebay contract! You're not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You're more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.

If you decide to have the Milano transported home, there are scores of companies to choose from. I ship vehicles regularly and have access to the nationwide wholesale Central Dispatch system. After checking recent shipping prices to a buyer's location, I'm able to post the freight COD and usually can beat the retail prices offered to other Ebay buyers by transport companies. Ultimately, shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER.

I'm able to the store the Alfa free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day. The vehicle is being sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. All information described above is based on the observed condition when thelisting was placed. I've done my very best to describe the truck and encourage bidders to contact me with questions before bidding.
