Description of 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate

Very nice. very clean. Excellent Example @ a great price!VERY LOW MILEAGE!** Possible Delivery to any point East @ very low rate. see below and email me with questions. Super fun. clean revving. great handling. head turning Italian semi-exotic. I know the car so much from my youth in the 90s when Alfas were fairly prevalent. but no one seems to recognize this beauty. My regular driver is a Tesla Model S. and I get more compliments and thumbs up driving this gorgeous old Italian lady. I'm a car guy. dyed in the wool. and I've owned some awesome vehicles in my past. There is a short list of cars that makes my "soul" list. cars that have a certain something or charm that you can't put a name or a grade on. This is very near the top of that "soul" list. I hate to put grades on a car that shouldn't really be graded. but I know you want them. Here we go:Beautiful Red Paint shines and looks great. no dents. scratches of note or major flaws: 8-9The Upholstery looks very good. Clean soft leather. but could maybe have hides dyed. Starting to show age a little. but in very good condition with no rips or tears: 7The engine is solid. Revs freely and starts without trouble or hesitation: 8-9Interior: Door panels look great. dash is cracked (standard Alfa) but has a new dash cover. Driver door sticks a little. but hinge just needs to be adjusted. Carpets look great. with a small tear in the driver footwell that is covered with new Logo floormats: 7-8New Sony Stereo with Bluetooth & USB. New Speakers all around that you can actually hear over 80 mph top down road noise. Bluetooth Phone Mic mounted discreetly on dash. and works well. even with top down: 10Top looks very good. o tears or rips. Rear "glass" film has regular usage fine scratches. Still clear. but not perfect or beautiful. Doesn't leak unless in pouring rain or going through a carwash. and even then very little. My 2 year old Porsche 911 Cab was almost as bad in the carwash. : 7Transmission is technically solid. but has the standard Alfa 1st to 2nd gear syncro issue. If you haven't driven an Alfa before. it's something you get used to very quickly. You just can't speed shift 1-2: 7Wheels and tires are very solid. lots of tread left. Wheels could be painted if you want perfection (and I can powder coat them very cheaply if you like): 8Glass and Black/Chrome work are in excellent condition given it's age: 9Seals and gaskets are very. very good if not excellent for the age: 8-9This car needs very little. The AC could use a charge. All parts seem to be in good working condition. but the air doesn't get very cold. It could just be the effectiveness of the 1986 Italian version of AC :) Please know that I think I have been very conservative with these grades. I have a perfect eBay rating after a decade plus. and the only way of doing this is telling the truth and under promising and over delivering. I know this is the case with this car. no surprises. I have service records going back to 2006 @ 43. 00 miles. At that point the car had been brought in for repairs on the nose of the car. The previous owner had received a salvage settlement from their insurance agency and purchased the car back from the agency. Unfortunately. It's standard insurance industry practice with a car like this that has a very high value in parts (and why you don't see too many Alfas anymore. ) Kind of a stupid move on his part. but much to your gain! I have the receipt from Silicon Valley Performance for the repair to fix the nose. a fairly reasonable $ 2. 44. 52. So the question: Why am I selling it? If you look at the pics. you will see they were taken in front of a new house with no front yard. My wife agrees that it looks great in the garage. BUT she would prefer something other than dirt in the front yard. I guess you pick your battles. and while I love this lovely little Alfa. my gorgeous wife wins this one. My loss is your gain. I do have a CA Dealer's license. but it is for selling trailers to churches nationwide. Check out Churchonwheels. com for more details. and the explanation for the following:** Possible East Coast Low Rate shipping: I have our company enclosed car trailer headed east from CA to Louisiana. delivering 4/17. I should have room to put the Alfa in the trailer if you are willing to pay my driver excess mileage charges. He works very reasonably. so this shouldn't be a big deal. and very reasonable based on where you might be located. Email me for more details. Thanks for looking!Mike
