Description of 1968 AMC AMX

This is a 1968 AMC AMX that was still in the process of being restored. This car started out as a 290 with a M11 transmission but now is a 390 with an M12. This car does not have power steering. however I have the parts so it can have power steering. You will see the many parts that are included with the purchase of the car. So please keep in mind it just not the car but also the many parts included in the price. The car started out green when I bought it. I didn't like the color so changed it to a very bright red. The 390 engine has been completely rebuilt from the oil pan through the carb. I have spent well over $5000. 00 just in the engine. The M12 transmission has been rebuilt. New muffler on one side and may need the other one replace. I haven't replaced it because the car sounds mean with the way it is. New radio-AM/FM CD player with new speakers. I have a lot of paperwork for the car and parts that I have purchased that is included along with books and anything else that deals with AMX. The car is not correct and there are items that need to be worked on. The car had air conditioning when I bought it. I removed the unit but still have all the parts to replace it if wanted. The only reason I'm getting rid of it is because I only drive it maybe 2-5 times a year. The car needs to be taken out and enjoyed just don't have the time. The car has been on the road for the last 6+ years and have only put about 500 miles on it. I mostly drive it to work or enter it in local car shows. I have had people stop me on the road wanting to take pictures and ask questions. Brand new BF Goodrich tires on the front. New Air shocks. Brand new OEM drivers side remote mirror. i was going to replace the old pitted one but never got around to it. Bumpers have been re chromed. Some of the things that need to be worked on. The door windows need to be adjusted. they move up and down well I just feel they need to be adjusted especially when the windows are up and you close the door. Just not a good seal that I want. I have new door arm rest that come with the car the old ones need to be replaces not really in bad shape just something I wanted to do. The seats are not correct and need to be replaced. Strips on the car are not correct need the 1/4 strip. Need new tires on the rear. Took the car out with out air shocks hit a bump and you all know what a fender can do to a rubber tire. The tire has been on there for 6+ years and it has been all good. Just wanted you to know what I would change or wanted to change. Always wanted to put BF Goodrich 50 series on the back. The wheels are ok. some rust but clean them up every year and they are good to go. Need to install windshield wiper arms. Never put them back on because it stopped me from driving the car in the rain. The car has always been stored in a climate controlled garage since I bought it. Car needs to be buffed. It shines real well just something I have always wanted to do. The front left fender by the light is dull and needs to be buffed. The panel behind the rear window I've always wanted to replace. We all know that water collects back there and rust out. Someone filled it with filler but didn't do to good of a job. The good thing is I have another panel in excellent condition to replace it which is included. You have to be looking for it to see it but I know its there. On the left side rear fender has a slit show of rust bubbles ( look at the pictures to see what I'm talking about) We made a cover for the interior roof. In 1968 the interior portion of the roof was ribbed cardboard. I still have the ribbed cardboard if you want it. I have two sets of pipes with mufflers. the pipes are probably no good but the mufflers are. Steering wheel has a few cracks. if will cost about $700. 00 to get that restored. The car does not have possi traction but can burn the right tire up pretty good during a burn out. Other than what I mentioned I can't think of anything more. Please ask any questions. I have many pictures and have nothing to hide. I HAVE A LOT MORE PICTURES- EBAY IS ONLY ALLOWING 24. I HAVE MORE PICTURES OF THE PARTS. THE CAR TO INCLUDE THE UNDER CARRIAGE. I HAVE A SHORT MOVIE OF THE CAR STARTED SO YOU CAN HEAR WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE. JUST GIVE ME AN E-MAIL ADDRESS AND I WILL SEND THEM TO YOU. The mustang that you can see in some of the pictures is for sale. It is also a 1968 with only 49000 original miles. This car is all original. It has a straight 6. Thanks for looking
