1966 Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III Sports Convertible Restored Red over Black BJ8 that is ready to use! Same family ownership for the past 42 years with complete restoration! Overdrive. heat/defrost. seatbelts and 60-spoke chrome wire wheels! Introduced in early 1959. the Austin-Healey 3000 continued the legacy of Abingdon’s premier six-cylinder sports car. The Mark II iteration with more power and amenities was launched two years later and the Mark III debuted in 1963. This final variant of the 3000 came standard with twin SU 2” HD8 carburetors. making 150 horsepower. and servo-assisted brakes. to help slow the car from its nearly 120 mph top speed! A total of 17. 12 Mark IIIs were built and it is known that not all of them have survived dreaded rust and electrical issues; as such. it is increasingly difficult to find well-sorted examples! We are very excited to offer this 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mark III! The car is finished in Colorado Red over Black leather interior upholstery! The car retains what we believe to be the original 2912cc Inline 6 cylinder engine and four-speed manual transmission with electric overdrive! Ten AutoRadio and more! The car rides on 60-spoke chrome wire wheels wrapped in 185-15 Michelin X radial tires. We purchased this car from the previous Ohio owner of 42 years in March of 2015! Restored some time ago but barely driven. we decided it best to get the car out and put some miles on it. In an effort to make sure the car is in top-notch mechanical condition. we elected to replace the clutch and pressure plate. as well as pilot and throw-out bearings. The car continues to start with just a little choke when cold and runs down the road great. We also contributed a new. fully polished stainless steel exhaust system. which paired with the BJ8 Phase II’s increased ride height and our due carefulness. has not a single scratch on it! Included is a knockoff mallet. boot cover. tonneau cover with support braces. and the original Coventry radiator and full Triplex glass including windshield! Every surface of the car has aged together and as a result. every surface will show minor wear from having been driven and enjoyed. but there are few noticeable blemishes or touch ups. Even the undercarriage is in splendid condition and will make all who bend over to take a look swoon.
