Description of 1962 Austin Healey 3000

This is a 1962 Austin Healey 3000 BT7 Mk-2 Tri-Carb that I have fully restored and maintained for the last 25 years to factory original specifications.

The Healey starts runs and drives great. Was found in a field owned by a hippy with a tree growing through it (the car not the hippy). And my adventure began could not let a classic die in those circumstances.

Through the restoration many opportunities to use less than original parts were available to me but out of respect for the intended design of the car I only used original parts specifically meant for the 3000 BT7 Mk-2 Tri-Carb. Example: Point ignition compared to electronic ignition dynamo instead of alternator etc.

After the restoration the car was shown at numerous shows winning many awards.

It is the only year that had factory installed triple carburetors as standard equipment and also is the last year of the true Roadster.

The 3-carburetor Austin-Healey BT7 2+2 Roadster is the most advanced of the Big Healey Roadsters. Produced for just over a year as an interim model before the introduction of the BJ7 the low slung BT7 combines classic Healey roadster handling road-hugging style and quick reactions with the power and responsiveness of the triple SU HSF4-carbureted engine which was used only in this model and its 2-seat sibling the BN7. Three SU HS4 carburetors and an improved camshaft design designated the BT7 Mark II in four seat form.
