Description of 1978 Austin Mini

This little Mini is an English built New Zealand Import where it spent most of it's life as a 1981 model. About 10 years ago I bought it and imported it from Christchurch, ew Zealand and in order to ship it here it had to be changed to a 1978 model year to fall within the 25 year old collector car law so that change was made prior to it's shipping. When it arrived, t was very solid and complete but in dire need of attention. There is NO rust on this car. Because I have restored British cars for most of my life as a hobby, began to disassemble this little jewel. Nearly everything on the car was disassembled, econditioned or replaced with new over the next four years including a nearly flawless paint job in British Racing Green with a Triumph White roof. Since this process has been my hobby, nce the car was assembled, t has sat with less than 1,000 miles driven since reassembly. It has been in my garage under cover (included) and seldom taken out. This little car as excellent as it is, s just sitting and not being enjoyed. In addition, am getting old and nearing retirement and this car should go to someone who will appreciate and enjoy it. Brand New Faulkin tires mounted to new anthracite minilite wheels, ooper S disc brakes and adjustable "red" road springs rather than rubber springs are a few of the upgrades to this A+ 1275 cc engine on the newest "DAM" version of a four synchromesh transmission. It has a "blue" clutch assembly and a stainless big bore exhaust system along with a Maniflow stainless steel header. It is not a loud exhaust but does have a bit of a deep tone. Burl Walnut door, ear side window and dash board enhances the modernization of this MKIV mini. The new radiator, hroud and windshield wiper motor and assembly along with a K&N style cone airfilter enhances the overall appearance under the hood. The rare dual skin trunk lid adds to the functional and durability of the trunk area and the trunk (boot in English) has a clean look due to the carpeting. It has a tachometer, hree in one stereo (cassette, M/FM CD) with a rear mounted electric antenna that helps to preserve the body lines that are unique to a classic mini and a digital dash mounted clock. The bumper blades are also stainless steel with chrome overriders. The inside is complete with four new seatbelts, arpeting, arpeted mats, earview mirror and a headliner. This car is ready for a cross country trip for those who would find such a trip comfortable in a mini. There are a few details that could receive attention. The speedometer cable needs replacing. The windshield washer bottle needs mounted (it is in the trunk) and the dash airvents should be mounted outside the dash. There are way too many new parts on this car to mention but once one sees the car, any can be easily identified. The paint job (five color and three clear) is nearly flawless. It is a neat little car but I frankly have too many and this one has to go...to someone that will appreciate it. I will entertain offers but will not give the car away. Please, o tire kickers. As I have this car advertised locally, reserve the right to cancel this auction if the car is successfully sold elsewhere. All shipping costs and arrangements are to be born by the buyer. I will help load the car and release it to your shipper and verify it's shipping condition so you can be assured of any damage that is incurred during shipping.
