Description of 1965 Austin Mini Cooper S |
|
1965 Austin Mini Cooper S, HDThis car was originally sold to Germany. It was later brought to the US and converted (locked differential) for Autocross.I bought this car over 11 years ago from Minneapolis, N. I FedExed my tools; then flew out to drive the car back the 1300 miles to CT.It has dual tanks and the 1275 race engine. I don't know what the differential ratio is, ut I was getting about 25mpg on the trip. The odometer did not work at that time. I got within 100 of home and a bang occurred in the engine room; however the engine still operated although loudly. I drove it to a parking lot 1.1 miles away. How did I know? The odometer started working; called a tow service andflatbed-edme and the car home. I've started the car several times and it's still noisy. I suspect that thetimingchain tensioner got loose and the chain may have skipped a tooth, hich is why it's running rough. Here are some of the general specs of the car as sold.
The car is a left hand drive as originally manufactured and it is a real Cooper S. Most Mini's advertised as "Cooper" or "Cooper S" are not. Get the VIN and check it against the following website: http://www.minimania.com/Mini_Chassis_VIN_and_Commission_Numbers__Part_I__Revised_#59 |
