Description of 1970 Austin

Just in time for Christmas. This was a 2 plus year restoration. This Mini was stripped down to the shell with the sub frames, lass & doors off and restored. Painted Lamborghini Telesto Grigio gray. This is a really neat color, ith a slight pearl and metallic flake. The top is painted Jaguar E type old english white. Very elegant . Some of the highlights are:
-Electric full length Webasto sunroof, es I had to source that from another enthusiast that brought an entire roof section back from England.
-Cooper S front disc brakes & stainless brake lines, ew
-Mini fin rear brake drums -new (new wheel cylinders, oses & wheel bearings)
-Complete Newton Commercial special ordered red interior. Seats, oor panels, nbsp; dash w/new dashpad, ew dash trim, nbsp;new headliner (not installed), nd carpets
-Adjustable lower A arms, djustable tie rods, ew rubber cones, igh/low adjusters, nd adjustable GAZ shocks-all new, f course all bushings front & back are new.
-(4)10X6 Minator wheels & A008 165/70/10 tires - new
1275 bored out .40 with Mini Mania pistons. 1370cc. A complete balance and assembly along with a magnetic particle inspection was done by a top 3 generation old school machine shop. $1185 in labor alone on the short block.New Minimania Russell engineering pistons, ew oil pump, egadyne 276 road rally cam, ightened flywheel, tage 2 head, ew Maniflow LCB header & I had that ceramic coated, ew fan blade & new copper 4 core radiator, ear reduction starter, ew hoses and belts, ew orange diaphragm rally clutch, lave unit and hose are new, ew duplex timing chain & gears. New motor mounts. New electronic ignition distributor, oil & wires.
5 speed transmission. New. This was a really expensive part of the build, ut super cool. The Minimania current list is $5500 + $150 core. 3.44 final drive and when put into 5th it goes down to 3.1! That's a big deal when your running 10" tires.
The build included Cooper S emblems, ew old style tail lights, rille and trim, ew glass turn signal lenses, tainless bumpers with over riders, ew door handles, ll weather stripping including on the doors is new. New front windshield and new glass on both doors. New headlight rings & buckets, ipers, asher spray nozzles. New air horns installed, imilar sounding to the Fiamm horns that Ferrari & other cool european cars had.
I have a few extra parts that the buyer is welcome to. The original 70 grille, he original 4 speed transmission which is in good shape, nd several Mini books including the Haynes repair manual & David Vizard Tuning The A Series book. A steel rim spare tire.
History wise on the car, his is the second time I have owned it. I bought it back when it was first imported in 2000, old it in 2004 and bought it back in 2010. Originally this car competed and raced in the Snowdonia Mountains in Wales. I still have many of the original MOTS, aperwork and the license plate. It's been a really fun car, asy to work on, nd a blast to drive. The Woods & Pickett fender flares can be removed easily if you like. I couldn't make my mind up which way to go, o I painted the car without them. (4) 10X5 Mini wheels also come with it (one is being used as a spare), new vintage license plate frame & a few other parts. The center caps on the car presently are Lamborghini and I do have new caps that say MINI which are included. I have spared nothing on the build. I built it to keep. The build cost in parts alone is more than the buy it now. Then you have the cost of a car & labor. There is zero chance anyone could build a similar car cheaper. Lovingly cherished & seriously for sale because I'm moving to a house with substantially less garage space. Any questions please message me or you can call at (502)396-8125.
