Description of 1958 Austin Healey 100-6 BN4 Roadster

British sports car collectors, you will want to tune in and take a very close look at this amazing car! ‘Red Hills Rods & Classics’ is proud to offer you this absolutely stunning, rotisserie restored 1958 Austin Healy 100-6 BN4 roadster! Introduced in 1957, the Austin-Healey 100-6 roadster is powered by a 2.6-liter six-cylinder engine producing 117 horsepower, featuring a new longer body, which allowed two children's seats to be fitted in the rear of the cockpit. Donald Healey actually drove... a prototype version of this car to over 200 mph at Bonneville Salt Flats in August of 1956. The 100-6 was the first Austin Healey to have a six-cylinder engine w/ two SU side draft carburetors, a 4-speed transmission w/ electric overdrive, and a new six-port cylinder head. The 100-6 was completed as a left-hand drive export model on January 30, 1957 and then sent to the United States. It was assembled at the Longbridge plant, prior to Austin moving production to its MG factory in Abingdon in October of that year. These cars have become highly collectible and are sought after by sports car collectors worldwide. The BN4 L (left-side drive) cars were produced between August 1956 thru December 1957, with this car being the 4,193 car built between these dates. A total of 7,053 BN4 L cars were produced during this time. This perfect example, chassis #50092, has to be among the finest examples known to exist. The recipient of a nut & bolt rotisserie restoration, this gorgeous Austin Healy 100-6 looks as though it just rolled out of the factory. The late Mike Lundquist of Sandy, Utah, performed the three-year comprehensive restoration w/ a total of 1,732 hours spent at a cost of $115,000 (the restoration was completely documented from day one when the car was picked up from its owner in Price, Utah, and trailered to Lundquist’s shop). Mike was a British car guru and has won numerous prestigious awards over the years. Mike put his hands on every single component, nut & bolt during this extensive restoration. The car was super solid to begin with, as the body showed absolutely no signs of previous damage or noticeable rust. The body was completely sand-blasted, and countless man-hours were spent making sure that all of the panels lined up flawlessly and that all gaps are precise throughout. She is finished in the gorgeous shade of ‘Antique Sage’, which has to be one of the prettiest colors that I have ever seen on an Austin Healy. The paint has been polished & buffed to a mirror-like shine w/ absolutely no scratches, chips or distractions to be found anywhere. The original oval grille, and all of the chrome on the entire car was completely re-chromed and is in pristine show quality condition throughout. All brand new weather-stripping & brand new glass was installed as well. The black canvas convertible top & removable side curtains are brand new and fit perfectly (I have included photos w/ the convertible top in place, and additional photos of the top removed but w/ the side-curtains still attached, which looks great in my opinion). The original chassis, suspension, brakes, exhaust system, fuel tank, etc., were either completely restored or replaced, w/ everything measured precisely to factory specifications (please look at the undercarriage photos to see how beautifully detailed everything is). She sits on brand new chrome knock-off wire wheels wrapped w/ B.F. Goodrich Silvertown bias-ply tires (5.90 x 15). Again, every single detail in regards to the bodywork, paint, chassis (frame) work, etc., is completely & extensively documented. Open the driver’s door and you will find a flawless ‘Honey Tan’ leather 2+2 interior that shows ‘as new’ from front to back. All of the factory original gauges appear to be in perfect working condition and all interior components are fully functional. Original options include factory heater, turn signals, and telescopic steering wheel. The ‘Antique Sage’ exterior w/ ‘Honey Tan’ leather interior is one of the most striking color combinations that I have ever seen, and is truly elegant in every way. Open the hood and inside the beautifully detailed engine bay you will find the original numbers matching 2,639cc six-cylinder engine linked to the original 4-speed manual transmission w/ overdrive. The entire original drivetrain was completely rebuilt from front to back w/ no stone left unturned and no corners cut whatsoever (once again, every detail of the rebuilding of the driveline is 100% documented w/ extensive itemized reports). She fires up instantly w/ the flick of the wrist settling into a nice smooth idle, and runs & drives beautifully like a brand new car. This stunning 1958 Austin Healy 100-6 BN4 roadster would certainly win Top Honors @ any national-level vintage automobile event in the country. It is an investment-grade classic car in every way that will only appreciate in value as the years go by. Please look very closely at the photos and ask yourself if you have ever seen another Austin Healy 100-6 BN4 roadster that can compare to this car in overall presentation & originality. I am pretty sure that I know the answer. This vintage British sports car is for the avid collector who is only interested in owning the the best of the best so to speak. Are you that collector?
