This classic Mini is featured in Tartan Red with Old English White roof. The interior is Red and Grey. This is an original LHD 997cc US delivery car with the correct VIN to match the included British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate. In 2001 the car had a complete bare body restoration with new and authentic interior and trim. The front disc brakes were upgraded to 998 spec 7. 5 discs. In 2014 the height adjustable suspension was replaced. The Moulton Adjust-A-Ride donuts and cones deliver a ride quality similar the later Cooper S Hydrolastic system. The car rides on original 10 wheels. It is one of 3. 81 1962 997 built for export. The car has been mechanically maintained and restored by noted Mini expert Thomas Abbe. and Tom maintained a complete mechanical history from 1998 to present. The history documents in great detail everything that was done on the car. No expense was spared in making this one of the best examples we have ever seen. The engine is a correct type and age for the car. but it was clearly replaced at an earlier time because the engines number is 893 units from the original engine number on the Heritage Certificate. The only other discrepancy is that the Certificate shows that the car was originally delivered in Almond Green with White roof. The car has great provenance and is delightful to drive. These diminutive cars earned their competition credentials in period on Europes most prestigious tracks and rallys.
