Description of 1938 Austin Bantam

I am slowly lowering the price. You better buy it, if you really want it, before the 'other guy' gets it.

This is a 1938 Austin Banham that has been heavily modified into a TOTALLY AWESOME AND SLEEK, very fast, wicked chopped, pickup body. You will find out the reason for the "Cushman" name on the bed from the magazine article, it's good.
This Austin Bantam is one-of-a-kind! There is no other Austin Bantam known in the world to be like it!
This car mod was headlined in 'Rolls and Pleats' Hot Rod magazine, Q1 2006. (A copy of that magazine is included with vehicle purchase) I have included photos of the magazine in this ad.
It has right hand drive. It is awesome to take to hotrod shows! You get tons of lookers who want to know everything about it. It does not have much to left to do to finish it up.The main body and bed needs some TLC, and some touch up paint, however we decided not to paint it because you may want to do something completely different. No sense in wasting money painting, when 'you' want it painted blue.
I have included a YouTube link to see a video of the car running.

We fully rewired this car front to back. We also re-engineered the front and rear end suspension for smoother and more stable driving. We moved the radiator from the back of the car up front with the new modified Ford 5.0 Mustang radiator. The front grill is a chopped 1932 Ford model BB grill and shroud. The engine is a Toyota 20R(Parts numbers match a 1978) that produces 215 HP, with a Weber 32/36 two barrel Carb, with a five speed Toyota transmission, and it has a Toyota 8 inch rear end. In the magazine article the original builder explains many of the things he did to build this hotrod. Even though we modified the front end for the 1932 Ford model BB grill and shroud, but we still have, and will include, the original builders 1960s adjustable cantilever transversal front leaf spring from an early 60's front engine rail dragster. This unit is shown on the car in the magazine pictures, and it is laying on the floor in front of the hotrod in one of the pictures included included in this ad. This body is a little short inside, but a skilled (relatively) welder could rise the body from the floor up to 4 inches giving plenty of room for taller people.
Odometer has never been connected due to transmission, differential, and tire size makes accuracy impossible. We use a cell phone for speedometer, or you could buy a GPS speedometer/mileage tracker. Both options work well. I use Google maps that now shows vehicle speed.
Were I not selling, I would weld up a large removable 8 inch deep stainless steal pan, or set of half pans, made to fit as a trunk under the trunk lid. That would look nice and carry a lot of stuff. If you weld and shape it yourself, you could make a couple very deep pans for tons of stuff. Lots of room to tinker for such a small hotrod! I left two accessory wires hanging from under the dash. One is a fused 20 Amp circuitin the fuse panel, and the other is a direct higher Amp circuit from battery positive. This will provide plenty of power for any stereo, speakers, or etc.
