Description of 1976 BMW 5-Series E12

I WAS TOLD BY THE SELLER THAT HIS SON WORKED ON THE CAR FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS IN HIS BODY SHOP BEFORE PASSING AWAY IN 2014. IT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN DISASSEMBLED AND PAINTED THE UNDERSIDE IS BLACK AS SEEN IN THE WHEEL WELL PHOTOS. I THINK THERE IS SOME EXTRA PARTS AS THE SHOP DID VARIOUS DETAIL JOBS ON OTHER CARS, I HAVE AN EXTRA ENGINE LISTING IN ANOTHER AUCTION.THE PAINT IS VERY SMOOTH AND LOOKS TO BE HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL HOWEVER THERE ARE A FEW SMALL CHIPS NEEDING REPAIR (SEE PICTURES)PARTS I KNOW ARE MISSING IS A HEADREST FOR THE BACK SEAT AND THE BOTTOM BENCH SEAT ALSO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED AND THE FUEL TANK IS MISSINGPLEASE REVIEW THE PICTURES AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO DESCRIBE WHAT I CAN.
I DO HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO DELIVER AND A PRICE CAN BE DISCUSSED 574-457-6170

First generation (E12; 1972–1981)[edit]Main article:BMW 5 Series (E12)BMW 5 Series (E12)BMW 528 (E12) sedan (Germany)

TheE12 5-serieswas produced from 1972–1981 (produced until 1984 in South Africa). The E12 is the first series to bear the 5-Series name: the '5' denoting BMW's fifth 'New Class' platform. Designed as a replacement for theBMW New Classmid-size sedan, the E12 5-Series models were smaller than the largeBMW E3sedan but larger than the two-door2002models.

The first generation's body was styled byPaul BracqandPietro Frua,[3][4]based on theBertone1970 BMW Garmisch 2002ti Geneva show car.[citation needed]The E12 was available only in the sedan body style with amanual transmission. There was anautomatic transmissionavailable for US and Japan-only versions.[3]

While there was no E12BMW M5produced, the E12 M535i is seen as the predecessor to the M5.
