Description of 1982 BMW 3-Series Base Coupe 2-Door

I was fortunate to acquire this 3 owner, (counting me) very original E-21. The Lady who owned the BMW lived in Idaho, and had purchased it in 1984 with around 15,000 miles as a Lease Return. At present the car has 126,768 true miles, and yes the odometer works just fine. She had owned the car for the previous 31 years but was to old to drive, and had no grand kids to give it to. I raced up to buy it, but when I arrived I found she had neglected to mention that the car had been stored in her Barn, not having been driven since 2009. I put a battery in her, some fresh fuel, and she fired up. I then drove the car 163 miles back to my place in Eastern Oregon. The BMW comes with Factory Shearling seat covers, which are still very nice, and were only available through the Dealer, and had been in place since the car was new. As a result the interior is excellent. The car also comes with a BMW dash cover, and a Factory BMW Bra. All of which are in excellent condition. The dash has three cracks that have been crudely repaired,(see photo). The car also features Air Cond. that was Port Installed as these Bimmers did not come equipped with Air from the Factory. The Compressor turns freely, so it may work with a charge. Also has an aftermarket Alarm, and After Market Cruise Control. I have never tried either to see if they function, as I had planned to remove them. The Car is a Bolt Action,(5 speed) Getrag that shifts like butter, and Clutch is great. All lights, both Clocks, work fine, and the glass is all good. The Original Blaupunkt Stereo and cassette are there, but I have not tried the cassette player. Even the cigar lighter still functions. So far I have put about 4600 miles on the Bimmer. I'm no mechanic so I've had the following done at local shops. New O2 Sensor, replaced plugs, points, cap rotor and wires. New alternator, new coolant hoses all around and new thermostat. New Bosch wiper blades, new rear brakes and wheel cylinders, and new belts, and new muffler. Tires are about 50%. I also have spare parts,( clutch master cyl- thought mine was bad, but I was mistaken), new tie rod ends, new front disc brake kit with Hardware, new extra ignition control unit, rear fuel filter, and other misc items. The original tool kit appears to never have been used. The BMW features BMW BBS Wheels. They have chips and scratches but would look better with a polish. The left rear wheel is the worst, with lots of chips as if a tire chain had come loose, (see photos). The car is virtually rust free with only one spot of surface rust below the right tail lamp, (see photo). Carpets and headliner are excellent also. The Car is Cold Blooded and takes two or three tries in the morning, but it always starts. The previous owner said they replaced the cold start valve just prior to storing it. After parked she starts, but seems to load up until the engine is reved up. Then she is fine. At 65 mph on the highway she virtually sings. A real joy to drive. She gets many thumbs up and comments at fuel stations and store parking lots. In the fuel dept....If I fill the Tank fuel dribbles to the ground until I go about 5 miles. As a result I only put in 5 or 6 gallons at a time, and then have no leaking. This just recently started. I've been told by two mechanics that it is most likely the rubber connection between the Tank and the Filler Neck. I'm nearly 70 and just don't have the money, skills, or facility to get her up in the air for a fix. She has all the original books, and even the Original German Build Sheet, and an original 1982 320i sales booklet. I believe most of the paint is original to the car, one door seems a little off, with only a small dent on the left rear top, an indentation on the right door, and the spot of rust under the right rear light. This is a strong running exceptional car that can only appreciate in value. The only reason she is for sale is that I will soon be needing to make frequent trips to Portland which is about 4 hours away, plus I'm now in need of a larger car. Now for the hard part. The $$$. These are selling anywhere up to $14,000. I've sold cars here before, and I know whoever buys her will no doubt have to pay some shipping costs. Therefore I'm going to price it several hundred less than I have spent, in hopes that she will find a new home quickly. Please compare this car to others here on ebay. I want you to know everything before you buy as my feedback is very important to me. I seriously need to sell her, so don't be afraidto make an offer, just not a low ball one. Also I will be glad to store under my covered carport until you can arrange shipping for a reasonable length of time, at no charge, as long as full payment has been received. If I think your offer is fair, and you plan to take care of her I'm sure I will accept it. I hope this will help, and I will do everything I can to assist your transport driver when He, or She arrives. On the other hand you could fly into Walla Walla, Wa. which is only 14 miles away, and I will pick you up and you can drive her home. Did I mention the heater works just fine. Here is a chance to own a True Classic that is one of the finest available anywhere, and at a bargain basement price. Thanks for looking, and email me with any questions. You won't be disappointed, Mike.
