Description of 1986 BMW 5-Series |
| 49465 documented original miles. Car runs. drives. smells. and looks like a 49K mile BMW California Classic Blue Plates Car was purchased new in sunny Ventura. Southern california in 86. Was loved and enjoyed for a short and gentle 6 years. /p> In early 1993. the car was cleaned. waxed. nd put into a deep. long. 22 year sleep under a BMW cover in an enclosed garage. (cover is included in the sale). Fast forward to fall 2014. ar was hauled on a trailer to a BMW specialist in Los Angeles to get it back on the road again. I wanted everything inspected. cleaned and all the “just in case” components looked at before turning the car on. No expense was spared… Due to long sitting. mechanic recommended Fuel tank replaced and not just cleaned. and so tank was replaced. followed by 2 new fuel pumps (both in tank and inline) and a new filter. Brake system was flushed and inspected; car got brand new brakes all around Valve cover. exhaust manifold and intake manifold were removed. valve springs inspected and adjusted; all ports were cleaned thoroughly and inspected for any gunk. Then all gaskets were replaced with genuine BMW parts. Most of the engine compartment rubber was also replaced. A new water pump was installed. all filters/plugs/wires…etc Long story short. $4000 later. car runs and feels like it came right off the lot. it rides powerful. smooth and quiet. no smells and no leaks. it passed strict California evap and emission inspections with flying colors. smog certificate included with the sale. It’s now registered with current tags after 22 years on DMV’s NON-OP status. Couple of few minor imperfections that I must disclose: *Original radio has an annoying static noise at low volume. it clears up once you crank it up. the issue seems to be in the volume control knob. All speakers are in good condition. stereo sounds awesome at high volume. *Antenna does not retract all the way down. /p> *Chrome bumper has oxidation spots. *A/C does not blow cold. I never use air-conditioning in any of my cars and so did not bother with it. however heater works perfectly. That being said. this car will transport you back in time. The interior is spectacular. dash top has no cracks. Full tool kit in trunk never been touched. Original spare in trunk and Door and trunk seals and rubber still looks and feels like new. original paint shines nice and no sign of paint fading anywhere. and the cherry on top…factory keyless entry with original working remote that locks/unlocks all four doors and trunk. car also has a working factory alarm. This car can be driven anywhere with confidence and is ready for the car-show season.
