Description of 1994 BMW 8-Series Historic BMW 8-Series 840Ci

1994 BMW 840Ci - EXQUISITE PAMPERED COLLECTOR QUALITY - HIGHLY DOCUMENTED!

1994 BMW 840Ci – HIGHLY DOCUMENTED SINCE NEW

GENERAL BACKGROUND...when BMW introduced the 8 Series in 1989 it was the result of a nearly $1 Billion investment, using the very latest CAD (Computer Aided Design) methods. This resulted in a stylish super-coupe with a drag coefficient of 0.29 - due in part to the unmistakable M1 front-end influence. The pillar-less design is especially handsome. With dual overhead camshafts, all-aluminum construction, and electronic fuel controls – the 840’s V8 engine was at the height of sophistication at the time.

OWN A WORLD-CLASS GRAND TOURER FOR THE PRICE OF A USED MINIVAN…in 1994, the list price of this car was $68,100. That is the same as $117,384 in 2018 dollars. Most importantly - this car is styled, engineered, and built like a $117,384 car. It is one of the few extraordinary bargains you will find among modern-day classics, making it a great collectible automotive investment.

SEE THE VIDEO… you will find a brief video of this car in action on YouTube. Just search: Exquisite & Pampered 1994 BMW 840Ci FOR SALE in Georgia

BRIEF HISTORY OF THIS CAR… purchased new at John Roberts BMW, Inc. in Dallas on April 9, 1994 - the car has led a pampered life with the original Bill of Sale and many other maintenance documents neatly preserved in protective plastic sleeves and assembled into a binder (shown). It’s obvious that each of the car’s successive owners cherished the car. The current and preceding owners are both members of the same Atlanta-based classic car club, where the car has been admired for many years. The sole reason that it is up for sale, is that a new BMW is on its way, and garage space is limited.

Particularly stunning, is that we see no evidence of any re-painting on the car. The finish would be exceptional for a late-model BMW…but is truly amazing for a 24-year old car. Standing at even a close distance, the car will give a near-new impression. There is only slight evidence “here and there” of the patina of age and respectful use.

Note the little signs of special care too...like the immaculate Trunk Tool Kit, and the clever Rechargeable BMW Flashlight that plugs-in/mounts in the glove compartment (strictly a novelty...as the rechargeable capability ceased many years ago).

RECENT MAINTENANCE… the car has been so well cared for, that repair needs have been infrequent, but a new starter motor has been installed (8/4/17 $686.48), as well as a new brake accumulator (8/14/18 $1131.11).

AS A COLLECTIBLE CAR INVESTMENT… I cannot think of another original (i.e. unrestored) example of a 24 year old car that looks so good. As an example, I have owned a 1965 Thunderbird convertible for 31 years…and it reliably wins a Senior First Place award at Vintage Thunderbird Club International meets. However, it was only 22 years old when I bought it in 1987 and though in good shape back then, it was not even close to the condition of this BMW at that time. Appreciation for the T’Bird convertible has gone from the $4500 acquisition cost to a current NADA Classic value of over $70,000. The point here, is that you are “getting in” at the right time for potential long-term appreciation with an extremely fine and desirable original car.

OPERATIONAL REPORT... the car drives beautifully with nice cold A/C. We tested everything we could think of, and found nothing amiss during the photo-session. The only known quirks are: 1) that sometimes the quick “express” function for the power windows may not engage…though the windows power up/down very well, and 2) sometimes a few of the clock’s digital segments may not illuminate. Finally, the car is definitely not for introverts, because you will be noticed everywhere you go with smiles, thumbs-up, and many questions. People don’t always know the year or model, but they know it’s a really rare and special BMW – and they like it!
