Description of 1984 BMW 6-Series

I am selling a modified 1984 BMW 633csi which I currently drive over 50 miles a day sometimes six or seven days a week. I own two other cars but prefer to drive this one. I have been driving this car since 2003 and have made many modifications and repairs over the years. The engine has around 70. 00 original miles on it. The engine was removed from a European spec 535I. I also installed the factory Behr engine oil cooler which slightly increased the engines oil capacity. The engine sat in a crate for many years before I installed it. I replaced all of the seals and many of the gaskets. I also cleaned and painted the engine and components. Some if the engine components I replaced both recently and over the years include cap. rotor button. plug wires. Bosch ignition switch. Bosch fuel pressure regulator. Bosch internal and external fuel pumps along with fuel lines. remanufactured air flow meter. remanufactured starter and alternator. Beck Arnley fan clutch. water pump thermostat and a K and N air filter. I installed a set of year matching Hartge headers. The exhaust system has been professionally re designed with the bolt on flanges positioned right beside the transmission. The flanges at the bottom of the headers go straight to the rear muffler without the restriction of any catalytic converter or resonator. There is a minor exhaust leak at one of the flanges where the header downpipes meet the exhaust pipes. I replaced the stock two piece Getrag transmission with a high performance four section Getrag unit I removed from my European spec 635csi along with the shorter drive shaft. This transmission is very rare and has a higher gear ratio than the original greatly improving acceleration. I recently installed new output and shift seals along with some fresh paint. I installed a new Sachs throw-out bearing and had the cluch disk and pressure plate measured by a clutch specialist. The disk had only 1-1000’s of an inch of wear on it. I installed a new oil quenched brass pivot pin from Ireland Engineering along with a new slave cylinder. The drive shaft has a new guibo bushing and center support bearing. The rear differential came from my European model and had all three seals replaced along with the rear cover gasket. I replaced all four CV boots. The rear cross member bushings and links have been replaced. I fitted this car with a nice set of shorter Alpina coil springs in bilstine struts which lowered the car about two inches. The wheels are a rare set of German made 17 inch Remotecs with a very unique offset. The rear wheels required a set of Eibach 15mm spacers which came in a kit with longer wheel studs. The front wheels are 9J X 17 H2 – E8 with an excellent set of Goodyear Eagle Sport 225-45-R 17’S. The rear wheels are a lot wider than the fronts 10J X 17H2 – E25. These are fitted with an okay set of Michelin 245-50-17’s. These tires still have good tread but are older and more worn than the front tires. A set of 255-45-17’s would look better. This car drives very straight and smooth. The suspension is very stiff and has a very sporty feel. I replaced most of the steering and suspension components at one time or another. I took the engine cradle to a professional welder and had the pitman arm and bracket reinforced with channel iron. These brackets are notorious for breaking. I also installed a European 635 front sway bar with recent sway bar links. The brake system works very well and has had fluid changes over the years that I owned it. The interior colors are tan. blue and black but have been evenly mismatched. The rear window deck has the built in window shade. The third brake light is not wired up. This model did not come with one. The rear arm rests; sun visors. center console. glove box and rear seats are from an L6. The front seats are not regular BMW sport seats. These are special order E24 Recaro high back sports seats which came out of my Euro model. These seats are manual not electric however the car is set up for power front seats the controls are still present. The driver’s seat is in terrible condition and needs to be reupholstered. The passenger seat is worn and has a small tear on the upper right corner; it is in better condition than the driver’s seat. These seats are still very comfortable to sit in and slide back further than the original seats. The dashboard is cracked and has been replaced along with a newer heater box assembly. The heater control valve is also in good working condition. The carpet is pretty clean but has no insulation material at all. I removed all of this and replaced it with a couple of coats of truck bed liner. I did this when I did some welding on the driver’s side floor board a couple of years ago. The absence of this insulation material has increased interior noise. The door panels are in good shape for the exception of some very small cracks on the drop in compartment. The driver’s side floor panel under the steering column is missing. I removed the headliner and just never got round to replacing it. The car comes with a blue head liner I carefully removed from a donor car. This will be included separately in a box along with extra hardware. trim and a pillar trim pieces. The sun roof is silicone shut because it needs a new gasket. I am also including a spare sunroof. What appears to be rust in the picture is actually the factory yellow headliner glue. I just installed a brand new battery today. All of the windows go up and down. Most of the window switch bulbs still light up. to include the sunroof switch. The power antenna works fine both power mirrors work. the heater blower motor and air condition blower motors both work and change speeds. The wipers function quietly on all three speeds. The power locks work fine. The driver’s side key is different the original lock is stored in the trunk. The smaller Alpina steering wheel is worn but has a working horn. The gauges work fine but are not original. I removed them from a donor 635csi. I replaced the fuel gauge with a German spec fuel gauge that reads in liters not gallons. This cluster has decals on the back side indicating that it had been remanufactured at some point. I am not exactly sure how many miles are on this car itself as the odometer did not work when I bought it in 2003. The windshield washer does not work however both bottles are in good shape. The cruise control does not work. The air conditioner condenser fan and mounting hardware are not installed in the car. These parts will be included separately in a box. The AC compressor and one of the hoses are not included. I just cannot find them. The AC system components that are still mounted in the car have new O ring seals. I cut the home made strut tower brace when I replaced the drive line last year. I was going to install a better one. I did keep the part I cut. Under the hood is mostly coated in truck bed liner along with most of the under carriage. The exterior of this car is in desperate need of a paint job. I have touched it up in places over the years just to keep in from rusting. I sanded off some rust bubbles located on the trunk drain. DS rear wheel housing PS door by mirror. C pillar on drivers side and the left rear tail light. The windshield has a small crack but does not obstruct view. The windshield seal is bad so it has since been siliconed. The bumpers are in good shape and have been fitted with the later model short bumper shocks. The rubber bumper corners have been replaced with the nicer later model fiberglass pieces. I did not connect the wires for the rear side marker lights. The front spoiler looks okay but has been repaired. Both fog lights work. The rear spoiler is in bad shape and was removed from a donor car. The car has 635csi badging. The high and low beam headlights are both European spec. The low beams have the separate removable park lamp bulbs. The front signal lamps are Euro and are only set up to work when signaling or in hazard. These do not glow when the headlights are on. I will include the original lamps separately in a box. They can be replaced in 10-15 minutes. The window tint is peeling and cracking. The tail light lenses are in good shape. The front fenders are rust free. The passenger side door gasket is stiff but does seal. The trunk mounted tool kit is complete. The spare tire is in good shape along with the jack and lug wrench. The driver’s side door handle is black not chrome. I am including a chrome door handle separate in a box. The overall condition of this car is not great. The clutch sometimes makes a vacuum like squeal when depressed. I think one of the cluch springs is sticking out further than the others making premature contact with the throw out bearing. Sometimes I can drive for days without the noise. and then sometimes it does it all day. The car still shifts perfectly. I do not have time to take it back apart. The recent engine compression test indicated 123- 120-123-123-120-125 front to back. This engine runs very strong and does not burn or leak oil. I only run super unleaded gasoline with annual fuel fitter changes. The exhaust system pops a little when downshifting. I am not sure if that is due to the age of the fuel injectors or the standard Bosch copper spark plugs. I think it sounds cool. The Hartge headers and custom exhaust give the car a very unique sound more like a muscle car than a luxury car. It really sounds great when I get on the throttle. This car does not leak any fluid and is still a fun daily driver with lots of cool parts and accessories capable of being driven anywhere. I also kept records of all repairs and receipts since I owned it. The car also includes the owner’s manual however is in bad condition. the pages broke from the binding. I am also including a spare matching Euro transmission. I shipped this transmission with the motor from Germany. I just stopped driving this car and gave it a fresh oil change the day after I listed it.
