Description of 1984 BMW 6-Series SUPERB!!!

One California owner from new. great driving!1984 BMW 633CSi “On a twisty road you discover the combination of ride. handling. braking and steering that make the coupe one of the world's best road-going GTs. ” – Road & Track magazine. Introduced in 1976. the E24 6-series was BMW’s replacement for the E9 CS and CSL coupés. Bob Lutz rebelled against the decision of a simple facelift to the design. and rough drafted an alternative version that soon became the 6 series. Production started in March 1976 with two models: the 630CS and 633CSi. Originally. the bodies were manufactured by Karmann. but production was later taken in-house to BMW. The handsome newcomer was well specified. featuring all-independent suspension. four-wheel disc brakes and power-assisted steering as standard. Even today. some 30 years on. these big BMW coupés have enormous presence. and with a 0-60mph time of 7. 8 seconds and a top speed of 134mph. they are no slouch by any standards. The car offered here of 1984 vintage is a truly rare find. A one-owner from new California native. the car carries a fantastic and complete history. Purchased new in Pasadena. CA. the car was the only one on the lot to feature the 5 speed manual gearbox. a hugely attractive option to the owner. a car collector and enthusiast. He intended to buy a luxury car in which to drive clients around for his company. but couldn’t resist the sporting lines for the coupe! Meticulously maintained. serviced and stored. the car was always in exceptional condition. But after about 14 years. the car needed a little sprucing up. With 125. 00 miles on the clock. it needed a valve job and major service. and was taken to a marque specialist. “Well. while we are at it we should…” and the engine received a new high lift. fast road camshaft. heavy duty lifters and a ported and polished cylinder head. providing a healthy increase over the standard 194bhp and 209 lbft of torque. The suspension was overhauled using mild racing shocks. lowering the car very slightly for an aggressive stance. The extra power and superior handling is noticeable and intoxicating. At that time. attention was given to the cosmetics. The paint had faded in places. so the car was treated to a fresh. excellent quality re-paint in the original colour. Saphirblau Metallic. Another “Well. while we are at it we should…” conversation ensued and a “Euro conversion” was undertaken. Anyone who has attempted this will know just what an undertaking that is. Parts are expensive. hard to source. and very hard to make fit with a degree of factory quality. The slotted top piece across the bumper was unavailable so the owner placed 13 orders with different dealers over a couple of month to force the factory to make and supply the part. Twelve orders were cancelled! The part. with a factory European bumper. sidelights. and side panels were installed. aligned and painted. At the rear. the bumper shocks were professionally shortened and a factory European bumper with side panels was installed. To finish the cosmetics off. a rare trunklid spoiler was added. giving the whole car a classic and aggressive look. Now. with 234. 70 miles. the car remains in excellent condition throughout. The paint is excellent with great depth of shine and luster. Only minor blemishes are present. Brightwork is all very good. glass is perfect. and the car looks fantastic on the 5-spoke alloys. shod with nearly new tires. The interior of the car is also excellent for a car of this age and mileage. Dash. headliner. all panels and carpets are all excellent with the only wear to the overmats. The leather seats are in excellent condition - they are soft and supple with little sign of wear. having been covered with the present sheepskin covers from new. The drive of the car great with no squeaks or rattles. The car has good responsive power. and it shifts perfectly through the 5-speed manual ‘box with a good clutch. Brakes. suspension and steering are all excellent. All electrical systems work perfectly. including the desirable on-board computer and electric front seats options. the electric sunroof and cold AC. The car comes with a clean. clear California title. owner’s manuals and a substantial file of service and maintenance receipts. This is a rare find and offers the buyer a spectacular looking car. with impeccable ownership and service history. bound to increase in value with other desirable and collectible cars of the ‘80s.
