Description of 1972 Buick Skylark CUSTOM

1972 Buick Skylark Custom

Rare 455 Engine / Automatic Transmission

Factory Air Conditioning Option

This awesome specimen has been stored for years.

With it's subtle body styling hiding a powerful motor and transmission, t is a true "Sleeper."

Here is a description, long with some identification numbers:

UNDER THE HOOD: 455 Engine, BBL Carburetor, actory AC. (New Battery, lugs, lug wires, ap, otor, tarter). Factory Cooling fan was replaced with large electric fan unit for pulling, nd a small one for pushing air.

Vehicle may have been ordered with a 455 vs. the 350 engine after delivery or during late production. (VIN has a 350 engine code).

INTERIOR: Original and Complete. Headliner is Black and in great shape. Dash Pad is cracked at driver side. Seats are white. Driver seat has tears and missing fabric.

Shifter console is in very nice condition, ncluding compartment door.

Steering wheel was replaced in the past with a Grant Aftermarket Steering Wheel.

Original Floor mats. Cleaning would definitely brighten up the interior.

EXTERIOR: The body on this car is uncommonly solid. The car was originally undercoated from the factory on the chasis, enderwells, runk, tc. and this has really protected the vehicle allowing it to be in such wonderful condition to this day. Another fact that has protected this car is that fact that it has spent it's life in the south; free of the corrosion of salt and sand.

Here are the imperfections with the exterior/body. They are minor. Please see the corresponding photos:

The front windshield has a crack traveling from lower left to mid passenger side. The Driver door has been lightly creased in the past, epaired, nd the small amount of body filler has detached.

Behind the driver door under the window has a small dent that looks like it can be popped out with a little pressure. Left Rear bumper has a light indentation.

Rear bumper has light surface rust at top. Right Rear Wheel Well has a small quarter sized bubble under paint. Behind Right Front Wheel is a 2" long rusted through area. Between Rear windshield on left and deck/trunk lid is a 3" area of paint loss exposing metal.

Paint on this vehicle has high gloss below the midline of the car, ith oxidation on the top half. A quick wax job actually removed lots of oxidation and provided a semi-shine.

MECHANICAL:

The braking ability of the car is not road-safe at present as the brake pedal is very low when depressed. The brakes were bled and this raised the pedal enough to actually brake the car, ut not enough to raise the pedal to a satisfactory level, nd provide secure stopping ability. Therefore, his vehicle will need to be transported.

Rear differential is a 10 - bolt factory unit.

Dual exhaust.
