Description of 1968 Cadillac DeVille

There's still something special about a long, leek Cadillac convertible, nd showing up in this gorgeous 1968 Cadillac DeVille convertible still draws a crowd. Legendary for their effortlessness, he 1968 Models are possibly the last of the truly opulent Cadillacs that were built up to a standard rather down to a price. The first thing you need to know about this car is that it's not nearly as pink as it looks in photos. Some paints, articularly those with a lot of metallic and pearls in them, ust don't photograph properly, ut believe us when we tell you that this is NOT a pink Cadillac. It's actually a deep, uscious metallic red that was used on some Cadillacs of the early 2000s and it works equally well on this late-60s luxury cruiser. The long, ngular lines scream Cadillac and this is one of those rare cars that needs no introduction, ven to non-car people; EVERYONE knows this is a Cadillac when they see it. Finish quality is quite good, ith straight bodywork (critical on something with quarter panels this big) and a shiny finish that is worthy of all the attention this car generates. Cadillac was reluctant to give up tailfins, nd the long, ointed rear fenders evoke a luxurious look and the well-integrated bumpers and taillights speak of a master designer at work. The chrome, hich is critical on a big car like this, s in excellent shape, oo, nd you'll note that a few emblems have been shaved to give the flanks an ultra-clean look. The white leather interior was reupholstered not very long ago and looks appropriate in the big red ragtop. Button-tufted seats and matching door panels recall an era when luxury meant comfort, nd the contrasting burgundy piping and buttons match the carpets and dashboard. And speaking of the dashboard, t's very nicely preserved with good woodgrained appliques on the dash and big, risp gauges that are easy to read. Features include power windows and seat, tilt/telescope steering column, utomatic climate control, nd a white power convertible top. There's also a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system that was expertly installed so as to disturb the dashboard as little as possible. White floor mats are certainly flashy but they work well with the overall look of the interior, nd white is the right choice in a convertible that's going to see a lot of sun. In back, here's a truly massive trunk which has also been custom upholstered in burgundy carpet and the spare tire has a custom cover that matches the interior.Cadillac's 472 cubic inch V8 was plenty powerful to make this much sheetmetal feel quick around town and provides effortless cruising at any speed. Both the engine and the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission were rebuilt not too long ago and the engine bay was detailed when the car was painted. Note the custom-painted air cleaner, nner fenders, irewall, nd other accessory pieces, uggesting a full disassembly and a major investment of time and money. It starts easily and has a muted, owerful sound from the single exhaust pipe, ery appropriate to a Cadillac. Most critically, his one has lived someplace where winter weather was not an issue and the chassis has lots of new parts, ncluding shocks, prings, tarter, nd the fuel sending unit, s well as the 235/75/15 whitewall radials wrapped around those flashy chrome wire wheels. This car has won its share of awards, ut the thing it does best is cruise. If you prefer first-class luxury, hen this Cadillac will most certainly deliver. Call today!
