SPECIFICS / BUILD INFORMATION

In mid-model year 1976, fter the announcement from the US DOT that even greater safety requirements were going to be imposed on convertibles for the coming model year, adillac announced that the last remaining American convertible, he Eldorado Convertible, as to be no more. Sales skyrocketed and 14,000 convertibles were built (compared to 1966, 250 convertible Eldos were built). Company spokespeople reported that they had run out of convertible top frames, nd if they'd had more, hey'd have sold more. Collectors showed up at dealerships with their flatbeds as to put no miles on their big slivers of automobile history as they headed to climate controlled storage. The "Last Convertible" went out in a blaze of glory.

Skip forward 8 years, nd in 1983, adillac introduced a new convertible. Go figure. But things were different, ay different. Gone was the 500 cubic inch big block V-8 (whose last model year was also 1976), nd that dainty little '83 model car (little by Cadillac standards anyway) could practically fit in the cabin of that just-shy-of-19-foot beast. Owners of the "Last Convertible" were furious, iling a class-action suite against the auto maker... and lost.

So, hile the '76 wasn't the "Last Convertible" Cadillac ever built, r any other US automaker for that matter, t was certainly the end of an era, nd there will never be another one like it. 1976 was the last year of the 500 cu.in. engine, he first year of 4 wheel disk brakes, nd this little fully-loaded gem here, ccording to the Cadillac/La Salle Club internet forum, s one of only 1000 made with the most expensive option available for the car - Fuel Injection.

This car was originally purchased in Reno, evada. Two owners ago had it nicely painted in the original Amberlite Firemist 5 or 6 years ago. At the same time, t received a new canvas top and Vogue Tyres. All of that is still in excellent condition. While that owner concentrated on the aesthetics, he last owner finished up the mechanical. It has a new brake master cylinder, /c compressor, J12 injectors & TPS, ll the vacuum lines related to fuel injection are repaired or replaced. It has a new right CV axle, nd left lower ball joint. The underside of this car is clean and rust-free. The car is beautifully aligned, he engine is super strong with no obvious oil leaks or oil use, nd the tranny shifts as smooth as glass. Everything functions in the car - door locks, eat adjustments, ilt/telescopic wheel, lectric windows, onvertible top, ipers (including delay), emote mirrors, limate control, utomatic trunk-shut mechanism, ven the "digital" clock keeps perfect time. In the interior, he upper door panels were re-upholstered, nd there are none of the common cracks you typically see in these lower door panels. The seats are in great condition with no rips or cracks. It's carpet is in great condition, long with a factory Cadillac floor mat.

IN FULL DISCLOSURE, HE ITEMS WORTH NOTING INCLUDE:

-THERE ARE A FEW VERY MINOR IMPERFECTIONS IN THE PAINT (SEE DETAILED PICTURES)

-A FEW NICKS AND SCRATCHES ON THE CONVERTIBLE PARADE CAPS

-THE PUSH ON CHROME PIECES AROUND THE TAIL LIGHTS ARE FADED,

- TOP OF THE BACK SEAT HAS SOME SLIGHT SUN FADING.
