Description of 1967 Cadillac DeVille Sedan deVille Hardtop

Well ladies and gentlemen, have a car I’d like to sell–1967 Cadillac Sedan DeVille Hardtop—non post, oaded with almost every option that was available back in 1967. I purchased it from a family local mechanic who had owned it from 2009-2011 (a longtime friend of the family ~50+yrs). He purchased it from my 3rd Cousin who bought it in December 1975 after the death of my Great Grandfather. My Great Grandfather bought this beautiful Cadillac in 1967 for going to church and special occasions. His daily driver was a paint truck, s he was a house painter by trade, nd generation of 4.

Vehicle comes also with its original Protect-O-Plate, wner’s Manual, ervice Plan Booklet and two sets of keys. This car has always been registered in NC since new.

Optioned with:
- Automatic climate control
- Cruise control
- Rear window defogger
- Door guards
- Soft Ray glass
- Guide-Matic headlamp control
- Power door locks
- Power windows & ventipanes (vent windows)
- AM/FM stereo & power antenna
- Six-way power front seat
- Front shoulder straps
- Tilt-telescope steering wheel
- Remote control trunk lock release in glove box

- 1968 Front OEM Disc Brakes
Engine / Transmission:
The engine and transmission are very good and reliable, ut are not numbers matching, 38K miles best of my knowledge. The engine and transmission were swapped (by my 3rd cousin) for another 1967 429 & TH400 built 3 months earlier by GM in fall (November) of 1966 from another duplicate car (according to GM Heritage Center Records), n approximately 2002. Does not use oil. Abe, y cousin, id repaint the engine in the 1968 type light blue over the 1967 darker blue.

To date, ome gaskets, ubber lines, park plugs, luids, reased ball joints & suspension etc., ave been replaced/lubricated. Entire cooling system was fully flushed from radiator through block and heater core with water pump replacement.

Tires:
Tires (with 1” whitewalls) have been replaced about 11 months ago so they have maybe 172 miles on them. They are not showing odd wear and are like new. 40K mile rating.

Interior:

The interior is in mostly good condition and 100% original. It has been professionally cleaned and the leather conditioned. The color is #340 Darien Cloth leather, cloth inserts with leather surround). The dash has one crack left of the steering wheel near front speaker. There are three cracks in the steering wheel, ne at each spoke. The headliner and all door panels are very good as well as the carpet. The original floor mats are included, ront and rear. The driver’s seat has one split in the upper left seam. I think a good upholster could fix this. It has no strain on it and does not tend to further separate.
Body:
The gold paint (color code is called “Baroque Gold"=43) is in good condition, as repainted only once in 2002. Fully polished and waxed. There are some minor nicks in paint, ypical from driving and parking, nly one ding on front left fender. Only rust I can find is in the right front lower fender, nder a stainless steel plate my cousin put in place. All the chrome trim is in very good condition, ith some minor pitting in the rear taillight inserts made of pot metal/chrome plated. There some scrapes on the bottom of the front left and right bumper corner pieces. The bumpers do show some light wear of a car this age. The weather stripping is still snug and does not leak when you wash the car, nd is OEM. The vinyl top wasreplaced in 2002.

Electric:
Most everything works as it should electrically including: Guide-Matic headlamps (that automatically dim the high beams upon an approaching car & return back to high beam afterwards), indshield wipers, top lights, urn signals, arking lights, nterior lights, tc. Separate switch in the back of front seat for rear interior lamp lights for guests in the back seat.

Issues:

The only minor things are not are correctly working;

  • The cruise control isn't working (missing two drive cables), ut the linkage arm from Perfect Circle unit to gas pedal is included OEM.

  • The A/C compressor will not build high pressure using R12 (2.0lbs of 4 installed). There were no leaks when vacuum tested (prior to charging) to -28”Hg Mercury for 4hrs and left for 24 hours. Freon R12 readings are now 30psi Low side & 57psi high side---Should be 30psi low and 150psi high. Compressor does power up (in over ride mode), o expect to rebuild with new seals or replace.

  • Also the AM/FM Stereo does not power on, hough it has power to it at the plug connector. The tale-tale lights for AM/FM do not light, lus no sound. The power antenna does function properly (it’s a separate function from radio).

  • The Auto Climate Control works for Vent and Heat using the temp dial, lower works fine as does the sensor activated climate control system. Simply put the A/C compressor needs replacing or new seals installed to provide cold air.

  • The front power bench seat receives 12VDC but does not move more than 1/32nd of an inch. The tracks are gummed up or blocked, reventing free flowing movement.

  • The windshield washer pump does not activate, espite a good fuse and 12VDC available.

  • The clock is not working.

  • Carburetor is not numbers matching, t’s a 1973 Chevy 4bbl in full working order according to its numbers. A rebuilt OEM one is available at various Cadillac Specialty Shops ($400).

  • New Items are:

    • battery

    • starter solenoid

    • water pump

    • thermostat

    • oil and filter

    • master cylinder

    • new rear wheel cylinders

    • new rear brake shoes

    • repaired exhaust

    • 5 new tires 1” WW, actory size

    • 4 new shocks

    • re-welded original & flushed radiator

    • blower relay

    • belts

    • water hoses

    • spark plugs

    • points and rotor

    • new front bearing seal

    • fan clutch

    • transmission gasket & filter

    • new window wiper refills.

The car starts up and runs beautifully with absolutely no smoke. I drive the car only on sunshine days ~30 miles from my house around and back without any problems. The transmission shifts perfect. Some small leaks from transmission pan when sitting, ight hand side, fter replacement of filter and pan gasket.

My 3rd cousin also switched the front brakes for 1968 Discs, rom a 1968 DeVille parts car, st year option for the DeVille. He was a Master Mechanic & felt it would improve stopping power. The option was not available in 1967 on standard models, xcept Fleetwood I believe. It definitely works and new extra front pads and brake hoses are included for the new owner when needed. What’s there now is good & working proper. I wanted to get the parts for the next owner to avoid their hassle of figuring out what was needed.

    General:

All in all, his is a very well maintained car that has been decently taken care of and makes a great driver car. I would drive it anywhere at this point, specially since it has 1968 front disc factory brakes! Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thank you for your time.
