Description of 1951 Cadillac DeVille

Up for auction is a 51 Coupe De Ville. This is a fairly rare car with only 10,241 Coupe De Villes built in 51. The car wasoriginally Empress Blue. The car is fairly complete except for the front seat. The story I got with the car is that it was family owned since new, and about 15 years ago the owner startedto restore it and died. What I am told is that the engine was rebuilt and putback in the carand it didn't get any further. Wether or not it was ever ran or driven after that nobody seemsto know. The car has been sitting and now the engine is stuck and I have not triedto free it up. However it is very possiblethat the engine was rebuilt becausetheengine has been repainted. Also the powersteering pump has been painted blue, andthere is overspray on the positive coil wire andthe carb linkage.The positive cablealso looks to be new.There is rust in the lower rear quarters and rockers. The floorpans are solid except the passengers rear pan has a hole.The trunk is a little soft and the spare sump has a hole in it.The car was parked with the windows down, but they are all there. Thewindshield and all of the back windows look very nice.Thewonderbar radio hums when you turn it on.The rear defroster motor also comes on. This is a very cool car with lots of potential.
