So MissChiTown is happy to present this 1981 Cadillac deVille. which is certainly destined to be a serious collector car in the years to come. It has everything a future collector should look for such as being a one original owner (estate is selling the car). original paint and vinyl top. original interior. original engine and transmission. low original miles. air conditioning. It is a car that is a California rust free and mostly accident free (except for the dings). Probably the biggest plus of all is that the cars from the 1980s vintage are fully drivable as an everyday car and when checked out. fully capable of going cross country and yet are becoming highly collectible. The estate of the original owners is selling this car and has had the title transferred into her name for ease in transferring the car to a new owner. In the words of the original owner’s daughter she will tell you a few things about the car. 1981 Cadillac deVille with less then 40. 00 original miles on it. Original car in a soft yellow original paint with a darker gold colored original vinyl padded top. The Cadillac belonged to my parents. My father purchased this two door 1981 Cadillac deVille for my mother when the last of their four children left the nest. The soft beige seats are similar to the short velour popular in the 1980’s. My mother was not much a driver. which explains the low mileage of roughly 39. 21 miles driven over 35 years. My mother died 15 years ago and my father just passed away a couple of months ago. The car was rarely driven following my mother's death. It is an original car with low original miles and has always been a California car since new. This Cadillac is rust free and has never been in an accident. I will be honest there are a few dings in the car. see photos. The most notable is a small ding on the hood that has been photographed up close to show detail - see photo. California law requires vehicles to maintain smog checks. The trip to Smog N Run to obtain smog certification for California’s Department of Motor Vehicle was not kind to this car. Upon the return from the smog check. two plastic rectangles on both sides of the car near the grill were cracked and missing pieces. While preparing the car for photographs the person washing the car was rough and cracked the plastic on the left back fin. This Cadillac was kept in the garage in California and maintained on a regular basis by my mechanically gifted father and his brother who owned a mechanic shop. The Cadillac is in working order including the air conditioning. Headlights work Parking lights work Rear brake lights work Signal indicators work Glove compartment light works The inside light works Wipers work Radio works There is a spare tire There is a jack The electronic device to close the trunk works. The hinge on the trunk does not work. There is a 3 foot stick in the trunk that has is used to hold the trunk open. If you are a collector that wants to add another car to your collection but have budget considerations this could be the car for you. It is highly attractive in a wonderful color scheme and as we said before it is a one owner car from the best place of all – California! The gentleman who passed away (his daughter is the seller of this car) was himself a mechanic and kept the car highly maintained. I am sure that there are some minor issues that may need to be tended to so that the car will be brought up to your individual standards. This is a car that has ‘great bones’ and great location history and you can judge from the pictures how nice it is overall. Dollar for dollar and pound for pound this is going to be a hard car to beat in the collector arena. If you aren’t yet a collector isn’t this a great car to begin your collection!
