Description of 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Classic

Affordable full-sized convertibles are getting scarce, specially cars like this 106k mile 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Classic convertible, hich offers single-family ownership, he upgraded 400 cubic inch V8, nd a ton of originality to please any purist. Recently serviced and ready to have fun, his end-of-the-line ragtop is the heavy cruiser you've been looking for.Repainted perhaps 25 years ago in its original dark blue livery, his big luxury drop-top has that old-school land yacht look. It was purchased new by the current owner's grandmother and has remained in the family since it was new, o there's a lot of history behind it. It's also lived its entire life in sunny, arm Atlanta, o the bodywork is quite straight, nlike the cars from up north. The paint is about what you'd expect from a car this age, ith a good shine and a few signs of use, nd it's exactly right for a car that you're going to drive regularly. The Caprice's styling was clean and uncluttered, rarity for the mid-1970s and today it represents an era we'll never see again because there's just nothing like a massive American luxury car. Nice chrome bumpers and stainless side trim make the car look as long as a city block and it's fitted with fender skirts to help with the sleek profile. The black interior is completely original and offers a tantalizing glimpse into the 1970s luxury car market. Wide bench seats were good for six passengers and the contrasting blue carpets not only work well with the bodywork but add some style to the otherwise monochromatic interior. There are minor signs of age and since this car has lived in a warm climate, here's a bit of fading, ut it would be a mistake to change anything in this awesome survivor. The gauges are all fully functional and as the top-of-the-line Chevy, ust about everything is included, rom factory A/C to power windows and locks, o an AM/FM stereo radio that is probably due for an upgrade today. The seating surfaces are in good shape for their age, ith a back seat that still looks almost new and while it's not real wood, he faux burled walnut on the door panels and dash do warm up the interior. There's a recent black power convertible top with glass rear window, nd it stows easily under a matching black boot. And for road trips, othing beats one of these heavy cruisers, ith this one offering a very original trunk that includes what might just be the original spare tire. The 400 cubic inch V8 is this car's original engine and it runs superbly thanks to a recent major service. It's not detailed for show, f course, ut you already know these engines are virtually bulletproof and the big V8 never balks at moving the Caprice around. The carburetor is freshly rebuilt, he water pump is new, ll the belts have been replaced, nd even the radiator was flushed so it's ready to enjoy immediately. It starts easily and has a smooth, uxurious idle and pulls well with big-cube torque. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission feeds 2.73 gears out back, o it's an effortless highway cruiser and the quiet dual exhaust system just purrs along at highway speeds. 215/75/15 Michelin whitewall radials are fitted, dding a period-perfect final touch.Documented with a lot of original paperwork, ncluding manuals and maintenance records, his is a car you can buy with confidence and enjoy for a long time to come.
