Description of 1982 Chevrolet Corvette

Up for auction is my 1982 Chevy Corvette Collector Edition and this one looks to have had every possible option including the UM6 code $400+ cassette/cb radio (unfortunately that was removed)! This one is a bit of a barn find. well I finally decided to bring it out of my barn where it has been sitting for a while as it doesn't quite fit in with my collection anymore. If this had a manual transmission I would never sell it but it shifts itself so it is time for it to go. First off this is a very very nice driver grade car. this thing cannot go unnoticed even for a fairly common car these old Corvettes still draw attention but I must emphasize driver grade. With a little work it would be ready for the show. some more work and its on a Concourse lawn or possibly a museum. Underneath the Corvette it is almost like a new car thanks to living here in the south you don't have rust worries. As for the body it looks beautiful but if you want to get picky there are issues. First the hood was closed with something still poking up on the engine bay so there are 2 places that will need attention. small but very noteworthy and you can see them as I have taken photos. The biggest concern is the lower front left side where there is some fiberglass damage also pictured. There is evidence of a repaint but I do not know the extent but in my opinion if it is a repaint the quality was excellent. Paint shines like new and even when up close to the car it looks nearly perfect. Headlamps are up. I don't know how to get them to go down and it looks like an emblem is missing on the nose. Other than a little nick here and there expected of an excellent driver grade car there is nothing else to mention and it still sits on period appropriate Eagle GT tires in good shape. The interior is original and in very good shape though the driver door panel will need some repair (pictured). The hood latch line has broken so the hood is best left resting down rather than latching. It has the security cargo cover still intact. Seats/carpet are very good but remember this is a 35 year old car. The car of course runs and drives but like a Corvette that has sat for years will need a tuneup for sure. The fact that it runs at all with 3+ years old gas still amazes me. Engine bay looks like new. I never touched a thing under the hood except for the trans and oil dipsticks leading to its really only major issue which is with a transmission line leak. I am not a mechanic but I can tell there is something wrong when the front of the car bleeds. Transmission still of course go into reverse and forward gears. When driving it there is a nice old creak coming from the front. not sure if it is a strut or steering issue but that will need to be sorted out. In all this is a true survivor that was well taken care off but will need a few turns of a wrench to bring it back to speed. Please do not ask if this can be driven to California. it requires some basic maintenance and a complete fluid flush if you want to do it right and you are not going to do that in my driveway. It's in everybody's best interest when buying an older car to pay to have it shipped. trust me you will thank me later. I bought this a few years back purely for investment purpose and to add to my 4 wheel retirement fund collection but as mentioned that has changed. I'm sure there a many things I am forgetting so please email me with any questions and I will be glad to help out. This is a truly nice car that in the right hands will turn into a centerpiece for any collector.
