"Why is the owner selling it?" In the case of this clean 1968 Camaro. it's for a good cause because the owner is pursuing his dream of opening his own business. So if you're in search of a nice F-body. you can own this one and help the economy at the same time. Purchased as a bare shell with a rebuilt rear end. most of the components that went into it are brand new. It's not pedigreed or matching-numbers or ultra-rare. but rather a great driver and Saturday night special that does a lot of things right. All the new steel in the body mean that the Orange paint has a fantastic shine and you can trust the new sheetmetal to not be full of tinworm. Black SS stripes. a ducktail spoiler. and a blacked-out grille give it that aggressive Camaro look that everyone loves. and a cowl-induction hood can only help. Nice chrome bumpers. lots of polished stainless trim. and correct Camaro emblems add a little sparkle that suits the car just fine. The black houndstooth interior is also almost entirely new. offering a set of upscale-looking buckets that really dress up the Camaro's passenger compartment. New door panels. fresh black carpets. and a center console make it easy to love and despite the myriad of options available. a factory-style steering wheel was installed. They did color a little outside the lines with a set of Auto Meter Ultra Light auxiliary gauges in the center console. much like the factory equipment but a lot more accurate. and there are modern mechanicals behind the factory A/C setup. A hidden AM/FM/CD stereo system sounds good and you know how much we love the horseshoe shifters. The trunk is outfitted with the best-fitting mat we've ever seen and we're impressed by how the black stripes even wrap into the trunk opening. suggesting a careful painter at work. The car was built to drive. and thanks to a 350 cubic inch V8 with an . 030 overbore. it excels at that particular task. There's an upgraded camshaft. an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor. and an MSD ignition system. all designed to make this car reliable and powerful at the same time. It was never meant to be a points competitor on the show field. but the chrome valve covers and air cleaner combine with the Chevy Orange engine block to make an attractive-looking package. Both the steering box and the entire front suspension were restored and the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission was rebuilt before being reinstalled. The 10-bolt rear end was rebuilt when the car was first discovered. so other than a check-up. it was used as-is and doesn't complain. A Flowmaster exhaust system gives it a great sound track and like I said earlier. all the new sheetmetal makes for a pretty tidy undercarriage. Period Cragar mags are an awesome '60s look and carry 215/65/15 front and 255/60/15 rear white-letter radials. So help a guy out and buy his really awesome and extremely affordable Camaro. You won't regret it and you can feel good about doing a good deed.
