Description of 1974 Chevrolet C-10

This is truly a new truck. wrapped in a 40 year old body. with only 230 miles on the entire truck. this truck drives. rides. and runs like new! I spent the last ten months building this one owner original Tucson. AZ. Truck into what I think is the perfect daily driver. Now it’s your turn! I have too many irons in the fire. and other projects are trying to muscle in. So good luck to all! I started with a one owner fully optioned 74 Cheyenne Super. originally sold new in Tucson. from Randolf Chevrolet. in May of 73. it spent it’s entire life in hot and dry Tucson AZ. The original owner had used it daily until the last 3 or 4 years. when it was given the easy life of making runs to the dump once or twice a month. It still has all of its battle scars. worn proudly on the original blue paint. as far as I can tell this thing had never been in any major accidents. or had any paint work done on it. It was a completely uncut original truck. original uncut wiring and all. The engine: I started with a 96 Vortec block. polished stock crankshaft. it uses Keith Black. flat top. coated skirt. hyper-eutectic pistons. 0. 030 over. on resized stock PM rods. The cylinder heads are Pro-comp aluminum. 54cc chambers. with 2. 02 intake. and 1. 60 exhaust valves. screw in studs. and guide plates. and it has bolt patterns to accept both 1st gen. and Vortec style intakes. It has an LT4 hot roller cam. with 1. 6:1 rocker arms. it idles really nice with killer throttle response. and just a hint of lumpyness in the tone. It breathes in through a 3310 Holley 750 cfm vacuum secondary carb. with an electric choke for reliability. sitting on top of an Airgap dual plane intake. It breathes out through a set of ceramic coated Hedman mid-length headers through a 3” dual exhaust system with Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers. dumping at the bumper. The ignition is handled by a brand new HEI distributor. with 8. 8mm MSD Super Conductor wires. I also added a late model serpentine belt system. with all new accessories. including 140 amp alternator. new A/C compressor. condenser. accumulator. orifice tube. custom A/C hoses. power steering pump. and a new GM high torque mini starter. It also uses dual electric fans for cooling. controlled by a Dakota Digital fan controller. This thing runs. and sounds. amazing! The drivetrain: The transmission is a PATC Raptor 700R4. with the Extreme Duty Raptor drive kit. which includes internals that have been induction hardened to handle more than 600hp. and 600lb/ft of torque. It also features a 5 pinion planetary gear set. hardened sun shell. and 2300 rpm stall converter. transferred through new U-joints in the stock driveshaft. to a stock 3. 73:1. 12 bolt rear end. I pulled the cover off the rear end. and the internals still look brand new. even the oil looked reusable. but of course you never reuse gear oil. I also went through all of the braking system. replaced all of the rubber lines. master cylinder. and booster. rear drums. shoes. and pads. The suspension: I have gone through every piece of the suspension. to increase comfort. and life expectancy. All new ball joints. control arm bushings. sway bar bushings. shocks. tie rod ends. pitman arm. and idler arm. The truck has been lowered 3” in the front with drop springs. and 4” in the rear with hangers and shackles. I went this route. because I wanted the truck to have the better stance but still be usable for hauling. and towing. without dragging anything going over bumps. It rides on old school American Racing Torque Thrust II’s. 15x8’s in the front. and 15x10’s in the back. rolling on 265/50/15’s up front. and 295/50/15’s out back. It rides and drives fantastic. and straight as an arrow going down the road. The interior: I wanted it to be as comfortable as a new truck to ride in. but still retain the flair that only the old trucks possess. I had the stock bench recovered in material that is almost a perfect match for the original. with a little more style than it came with. I also replaced the door panels. headliner. carpeting. and dash pad with exact replacements. I had all of the original woodgrain pieces. included in the Cheyenne Super package. hydro-printed in a black Burlwood to give it a more modern look. I also replaced the gauge cluster with Dakota Digital’s new VHX analog series cluster. in blue backlighting with carbon fiber faces. I also rebuilt the A/C controls. cleaned out all of the ductwork. and replaced the deteriorated paper over wire design duct with a stainless duct and clamps. which will never fall apart. Now the A/C blows ice cold. and heat. bi-level. and defroster all work perfectly as well. The truck even smells new again! This truck will get you noticed where ever you go! I get thumbs up. and stares everywhere I go in this truck! Whether you put your shop logo on the side of it. or just use it as a weekend cruiser. or your daily driver. you will not be disappointed with this truck! I hate to part with it. I have a ton of time and money wrapped up in this thing. but I need the funds for other projects. I have a ton of pictures. and videos that I took during the build of this truck. if there’s something specific you want to see. or a specific area you want a picture of. let me know and I’ll do my best to get it for you. I've done a video and posted it on YouTube. copy and paste the link so you can see it in action as well. http://youtu. be/E7orahs4F_0 Bidders: If you have a feedback rating of less than 10. or any negative feedback please contact me before bidding. or I will remove your bid.
