Description of 1972 Chevrolet Nova

1972 Chevrolet Nova. Originally equipped with a 2 barrel carbureted 350V8, ower brakes, ower steering, olumn shift automatic transmission, nd front bench seat. Upgraded with the following:

  • Fresh/low mile 396 cubic inch big block, ith electronic ignition; Hooker headers, ith complete dual exhaust system; Holley dual-feed, acuum secondary carburetor; and an aluminum dual plane intake manifold. It has a mild performance camshaft and Crane Cam roller-tip steel rocker arms. I would estimate horsepower at a +/-400HP.
  • Turbo 350 transmission, ith a higher than stock stall-speed torque converter (approx. 2800-3000), nd a B&M floor shifter.
  • Sub-frame connector and traction bars.
  • Console with sun-pro gauges (oil pressure, ngine vacuum, harging volts, ater temperature)
  • Nova front bucket seats.
  • Rally wheels
  • Steel cowl-induction hood

The previous owner had made it his daily driver and weekend muscle car. It was his pride and joy. While I do not know exact specifics on the number of miles on the motor or transmission, can say with confidence they are fresh, ased on cleanliness I observed of the valve train, xterior of the motor and transmission, nd how it runs. His family informed me that most of the work on the car (motor build, ransmission build, aint and body work) was completed a year or so prior to his passing in 2006. Registration for the car expired in 2007 and was not brought current until my purchase in May 2015. Between 2006 and 2012, is family would start and drive the car, ery little, ust to keep it going. It was always parked on concrete, nder a covered carport, ith car cover. I purchased the car from the family to help them with financial issues. I carefully re-commissioned it to bring it back to safe and dependbale daily driving condition.

Recent service work performed includes: Cleaning and re-packing the front wheel bearings, ew brake rotors and seals, ew front brake flex lines, ew master cylinder, nd new Wilwood dual piston front calipers. Oil and filter change, ew spark plugs and wires, nd new fuel filter. New BF Goodrich TA radial tires. New copper header gaskets and new valve cover gaskets. New rubber fuel lines at the motor and at the tank. Small block to big block heater box and core conversion, ith new heater hoses and coolant change, or a fully functioning heater system.

The car runs, rives, nd stops very nicely. No engine or transmission leaks or leaks from any systems. The car looks great inside and out. Body work and paint completed around 2005, ut the paint shines and presents very well, ith only a few minor scratches or blemishes. Please note that it is not a high end/show quality paint job, ut is a nice paint job. There is one spot of rust in the lower passenger front fender (see picture). It is only in the sheet metal, ot the structure. Otherwise the car is very clean underneath with no rust issues in the trunk, loors, tc. The car is very clean underneath, ith just mild grime or light surface rust, ou would expect on a car of its age. While the bumpers and door handles shine nicely, here is some pitting of the chrome. Carpet appears to have been replaced in the past (not faded or worn). The front seats were just reupholstered with correct materials and the door panels replaced. Original headliner (no rips or tears). Original rear seat (no rips or tears). Package tray is warped/faded, nd could stand to be replaced. Sound sytem consists of an AM/FM 8-track with rear speakers (works, ut not great sound quality).

The car is a pleasure to drive, ith lots of power and excellent brakes. Overall I would describe the car as much better than "driver" condition and a car that you can be proud to drive and display at local cruises and car shows.
