Description of 1971 Chevrolet Impala

1971 Chevrolet Kingswood Station Wagon
Up for auction here is a clean original 1971 Chevy Kingswood Station Wagon. This is the ultimate classic cruiser. You could pile nine people into this car and head for the coast with no worries at all. We just completed a 400 mile cruise this past weekend and it performed flawlessly. There was eight people in the car and speeds ranged from 5 to 80 mph. We averaged 18 mpg and everyone had a blast. This car gets a lot of attention and everybody loves how clean and it is. Originally this car was used by a funeral home for hauling the family following the hearse.
The exterior of the car is in good condition, onsidering its been in Iowa its whole life. There is only very minor rust in the dogleg of the rear quarters and the very bottom of the front fenders. The spare tire hump also has some minor rust at the bottom but this is very common for most of these wagons. Other than those areas the car is rust free including the floor pans which are solid. The frame has the usual surface rust but nothing that is major or that would affect the integrity of the chassis. The paint has a neat patina look to it and shows its age. Its faded and is worn down to primer on a couple of areas but I think that's what makes the car look so unique. There is no major body damage. The biggest spot is a scratch on the passenger front door that continues into the front edge of the rear door. This is not a big deal and could easily be fixed if you would chose to do so. All of the doors open and close like they should and the rear has the very neat power clam shell gate. This still works and is definitely everybody's favorite part of the car. You insert your key into the rear key hole and turn it then both the glass and gate slide into the body and disappear. All the glass is in great shape and has no cracks, hips or yellowing. The trim is all intact and in good shape also. The grille is in perfect condition and the bumpers shine up great and have no pitting.
The interior is in very good condition with just a couple minor flaws. The dash pad has one crack in it and the side pillar trim is very brittle and shows some wear. These could always be replaced and the interior would look new again. All the seats are in great condition with no rips or torn seams. The drivers front seat bottom had about a 1" tear in it that we had fixed. You can tell if your looking for it but nobody ever seems to notice it. There is seat belts for all nine passengers and you can easily install child seats as we have done. The carpet is clean and has no major signs of wear. The floor mats are original and are in great shape considering the year. The headliner is in perfect condition as is the visors. It does have newer door seals installed and there is no air leaks when going down the road. This is a factory air conditioning car and it works great. We recently replaced the ac compressor and its been working good ever since. The heat works great and also has defrost. The radio has been replaced at some time with a Sanyo FM cassette player that works. The factory am radio is also included and is in good condition. I also have the original owners manual and documentation that came with the car new. They are still in the original plastic GM sleeve and in really good shape.
The car runs and drives great and needs absolutely nothing. The engine is a 400 sbc and sounds nice and healthy. It does not smoke or leak any fluids. The automatic transmission shifts nice and smooth, nd goes through all the gears without any problems. The motor looks to be all stock with the exception of a recent tune up. It does have power brakes and power steering and they work as they should. You can drive this car down the interstate with one finger. It handles very well for how large it is and it rides nice and smooth. The suspension is all stock except for the front which we cut one coil off the factory springs. This actually made the car ride better since it took away some of the bounce it had in the front. It has newer shocks on it that are all working good. The brakes are in excellent shape and need no work at all. The wheels and tires are brand new and have less than 1,000 miles on them. The wheels are American Racing Torq Thrust II 20x8 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. The tires are 245/40/20 in the front and 275/40/20 in the rear. This really set off the look of the car and the tires don't rub at all.
Overall this is just a great classic cruiser that gets a lot of thumbs up. We have had our fun with it and now its time for someone else to enjoy it. I would trust this car to drive across the country, o if you would want to drive it home don't hesitate at all. If you would need to have it shipped I am more than happy to work with a shipper. If you have any questions feel free to contact me and I will get back to you as soon as possible, hanks.
