Texas Classic Cars Of Dallas is proud to showcase this nicely restored 1974 Stingray Corvette. With a numbers-matching 350 Cu. In. small block this 1974 Corvette coupe and beginning of the plastic bumper cars with the chrome rear bumpers finally being eliminated, owerful fun and relatively inexpensive the '74s are perhaps the biggest bang for your buck in the Corvette collectors world and are your invitation to some of the best car events around.
Even though the paint code shows it began as a Mille Miglia Red car,the current coloralso looks good on a Corvette emphasizing the long low profile and dramatic curves of the Coke bottle fenders. Restored recently, verall it's a clean driver that can be used without worries and still gets appreciative looks at the local cruise night and it looks far better than new with the modern shine of this paint job. The fiberglass is in good condition and shows few to no signs of age.
This one also features body-colored T-tops which many enthusiasts prefer and the only giveaway to the performance under the hood is a its great sound. Inside Corvette code 408 Neutral leather interior in impressive condition. The seats are supple and comfortable and show very little wear. The interior was completely removed and redone and then new carpets and door panels were installed to make it look crisp. You'll also note that this car offers such options as a AM/FM stereo radio that has been upgraded to a new retro style one that sounds loud and clear. For a true open air experience pull the T-tops off and enjoy the Corvette as it was meant to be enjoyed and the car comes with T-top covers for protection. You'll have a hard time wiping the grin off your face once you get to cruise around this nice looking Vette. The smooth shifting TH400 3-speed automatic transmission is the perfect companion for this corvette.
Obviously detailed several years ago the engine bay shows well with Chevy Orange paint on the engine block a chrome open-element air cleaner and Chevrolet Chromed valve covers to add a little under-hood flash. Power steering and power disc brakes were popular options and operate as they should. Underneath there is a new exhaust system and fresh shocks installed. It's ready to go wearing a fresh set of tires on the original corvette wheels. This is a great Corvette that can be driven and enjoyed immediately and you just won't find a nicer Vette for less money anywhere.
For 1974, new rear bumper system replaced the squared tail and chrome rear bumper blades introduced in 1968 with a trim, apering urethane cover carrying an integral license plate holder and recesses for the trademark round taillights. Underneath sat a box-section aluminum impact bar on two Omark-bolt slider brackets similar to the system used in the nose which allowed the Corvette to pass federal five-mph impact tests at the rear as well as the front. The new rear design was quite beautiful, nd more up-to-date than the 60's shape that it replaced with the vast majority of enthusiasts embracing the new design.
For the 1974 model only, asting limitations mandated left and right bumper covers with a vertical center seam. The anti-theft alarm key activator was moved from the rear panel to the front left fender. Tailpipes were now turned down as the new bumper cover eliminated the tailpipe extensions.Resonators were added to the dual exhaust system on 1974 models which further helped quiet the interior.
The radiator and shroud were revised for better low-speed cooling. The inside rear-view mirror width was increased from 8 inches (200 mm) to 10 inches (250 mm). For the first time, ap and shoulder seat belts were integrated, ut only in coupes.1974 was the end of an era for the Corvette with the last true dual exhaust systems, he last without a catalytic converter and the last use of the 454 cu in (7.4 L) big block engine.
The front nose of this Corvette has a smallareaon the right sid, (as shown above), hat has some minor cracks in the paintand paint chipped of. This is very common on these plastic front noses and can easily be repainted.
We have a folder full of receipts showing all of the work that was done to the car.
We would like to thank the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight for their unique location used at many of our photo shoots.Be sure to visit this historical museum if you find yourself in the Dallas, exas area. Texas Classic Cars of Dallas' showroom is located only minutes away.
