Texas Classic Cars Of Dallas is proud to showcase this nicely maintained 1982 Chevrolet Corvette. You just won't find a cleaner C3 Vette anywhere for such such a good price. If you're looking to join the Corvette hobby this is a great way to get started for a very modest investment and this one surely won't last long in our showroom.
Bright Red always complements a Corvette and while this one shows a few signs of age overall it presents quite well. Fit and finish are about what you got in 1982 which was the end of the line for the dramatic Stingray. There are very few signs of age, o stress cracks and even the bright Red paint which is a few years old looks great. The headlight doors fit flus, the doors open and close with that distinctive Corvette thunk and there's no negating the worldwide appeal of a car like this.
Up close you might note that even the front valance hasn't been beaten on curb, ll the emblems are intact on the Coke bottle fenders and Corvette lettering on the tail. Detailing is crisp and it wouldn't take much to push this one to the next level maybe a professional cut and buff to really make it sparkling. Code 70 Red leather works beautifully with the bright red bodywork creating a classic combination that will never go out of fashion. More amazingly the seating surfaces are very well preserved with hardly any evidence that this car is now 34 years old. The driver's seat shows some signs of age but nothing that's out of line for being more than 34 years old and the leather itself is supple and doesn't show many comfort marks let alone genuine wear. Those space-age-looking buckets are every bit as comfortable as they look and the carpets aren't going to betray their age either.
Corvettes came loaded with accessories including power windows seats and locks A/C a tilt wheel cruise control and yes an automatic transmission was the only choice in 198, so it cruises effortlessly and actually pulls down decent highway mileage to boot. The gauges are fully functional including the tach and the stereo is a HD Pioneer AM/FM/cassette head unit feeding the original speakers.
The original L48 Crossfire injection V8 is gone replaced by a newer L48 Crossfire injection V8 With a mild cam. There are fewer than 2000 miles on this new engine. The chassis is original but it shows no signs of winter weather and all the components intact and functional including a catalytic converter so this 'Vette is 50-state friendly. Even the original aluminum wheels remain unblemished with a nice shine to the aluminum and wear staggered 225/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear Cooper Cobra Radial G/T white-letter radials. You would be crazy not to drive this baby home! Even better, porting the optional glass t-tops...you will definitely be riding around in style!
1982 saw the debut of the "Cross-Fire Injection" fuel delivery system. This TBI (Throttle Body Fuel Injection) was not the type of fuel injection installed previously in some C1 and C2 Corvettes. It utilized two throttle bodies combined with Chevrolet's computer control system. The engine produced 200 hp (149 kW) and was mated to a new four-speed automatic transmission with torque converters bypass in the top three gears. Compared to the previous Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed, he new 700-R4 transmission had a lower first and second gear for improved low-end acceleration, nd a fourth gear overdrive that would reduce engine RPM by 30 percent at highway cruising speeds, esulting in better fuel economy. On the downside, he new transmission was not considered a strong unit and proved problematic. The final model C3 Corvette's published performance numbers were 0-60 in 7.9 seconds-the quarter-mile in 16.1 @ 85 mph (137 km/h). This was the last year for 8-track tape availability and new "cross-fire injection" emblems appeared on front fenders. Nose and fuel door crossed-flags emblems changed to a more squared design.
The leather interior is really very nice on this 82.
The factory air is working.
The glass t-tops are in excellent condition.
We would like to thank the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight for their unique location used at many of our photo shoots.Be sure to visit this historical museum if you find yourself in the Dallas, exas area. Texas Classic Cars of Dallas' showroom is located only minutes away.
