Description of 1981 Chevrolet Corvette NO RESERVE

First let me say that this is not my car. I am auctioning this 1981 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray for a good friend who doesn't do eBay. The car is located in Rockland, aine. If you would like or need more information please contact me through eBay and I will do my best to answer your questions.

I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, or the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, feel that there is never too much information.

As to myself, am not a dealer, ust a (66) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, am now retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, lease check out my eBay feedback as I have only one negative feedback which I believe I should not have received but you be the judge.

Bidders with zero feedback must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel their bid. NO EXCEPTIONS on this.

INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS ARE WELCOME WITH A DOWN PAYMENT VIA PAYPAL AND THE BALANCE VIA WIRE TRANSFER ONLY.

First a Little Corvette History:

Very few vehicles elicit the same kind of satisfaction as the Chevrolet Corvette. The 'Vette is a symbol of childhood dreams and grown up triumph. The only true American Sports car, his car stands for excellence and became an icon as a high-performance and dynamic sports vehicle.

The 1968 Corvette was introduced as the new Stingray (now branded as one word versus the previous two-word Sting Ray), he C3 later became known as the "shark," thanks to its long shape and aggressive styling. A "transitional" generation for the Corvette, his model saw some big changes from '68 to '82 including a smaller block engine and less horsepower due to new regulations. By 1973, he material composition had also changed to include less traditional fiberglass and more lightweight plastic. The longest span of all the generations, his period proved the popularity of the car was still going strong—in fact, he 58,307 sales in 1979 remains the Corvette's annual sales record.

Afraid of making the wrong decision in an engine? If so, 981 was the year for you to buy a Corvette. Only one engine was available on the 1981 model, small-block 350-ci V8 rated at 190 horsepower. Your only decision would be manual vs. automatic transmission. You might have wanted to go with the manual transmission, s it would be the last available until the end of 1984.
Perhaps Chevy only had one engine so as not to confuse the two different plants that were building it. For the only year in its history, he Corvette was built simultaneously at two different places: St. Louis, O and Bowling Green, Y. The major difference between cars built at the two locations was in the exterior, s St. Louis used lacquer paints and Bowling Green applied enamel paint with a clear top coat.
Chevrolet introduced the CCC Computer Command Control for the 1981 Corvette. The system used multiple inputs to monitor fuel and air mixtures along with spark and timing to reduce emissions, nd to meet the CAFE mileage requirements.

You will be hard pressed to find another 3rd Generation Corvette that is this loaded, his clean, his rust free, his original with only 69,761 original miles logged in a NO RESERVE auction. Look around and then come back and look at this one.

Engine:
Believed to be the original 350ci/190hp engine that has never been out of the car. Appears to have all original engine components still intact. The engine starts and runs good with no overheating or funny noises. Refer to the photos and video.

Transmission: The transmission is believed to be the original Turbo 400 that shifts up and down the gears fine.

Exterior: The exterior appears to be the original enamel paint with ne cracks in the fiberglass noticed. It is considered driver quality. The clear T-tops can be removed with ease and are in good condition. The bright work is also driver quality. All glass is in very good condition. Tires and what is believed to be the original rims, re in very good condition.

Interior: The leather interior is believed to be original and in good condition overall. The dash has no rips or tears. Door panels are in fair to good condition as well as the console. Door locks, ower windows and power seats are in good working order. One sun visor needs a new attaching bracket but the visor is there.

Undercarriage: The undercarriage is outstanding with a perfect frame, irdcage and floors. There is only surface rust noticed that could be easily cleaned up. It looks to have had new brake lines installed and still has a catalytic converter. The exhaust system is in fair condition.

Electrical: All exterior lights work to include the brake lights, linkers and backup lights. The headlights do work. Interior lights to include the overhead light work. All gauges work to include the speedometer, achometer, il gauge, ngine temperature gauge, il temperature gauge, uel gauge, il pressure gauge and alternator gauge. The horn, ipers and heater all work. The Corvette AM/FM stereo radio works to include the front and rear speakers and fader knob. The power seats, ower windows and power door locks are all functional.

Mechanical: The hide-away headlights do not open and close with the switch but can be operated manually. There is an issue with either the switch, he actuator or vacuum hoses. The brakes are operational. I am unsure as to the emergency brake. The power steering is good with no issues. The suspension is OK but it is a Corvette if you know what I mean. Tires and rims are very good. The Corvette starts, hifts and drives down the road good. The A/C is not working but the previous owner stated that it was working fine when she purchased the Corvette in the early '80's. The belt is off but the pump turns freely. An upgrade to R22 or R-410A is needed.
