Description of 1954 Chevrolet 3100

This 1954 Chevy 3100 represents the end of the line for the "Advance Design" trucks that are beloved around the world, ven today. In 1955, hevy would introduce an all-new truck, ut that didn't mean they sat on their hands and did nothing for '54. A new grille, bigger engine, nd a one-piece windshield make trucks like this '54 model the ones to own if you're looking for something with classic styling and a pure 1950s look. This is a very nicely restored truck with a gorgeous seafoam green paint job that looks great on the rounded bodywork. The work is professional-grade throughout, ith good straight panels that indicate that this truck was never beaten and bruised in its day job. While most of these were somber-looking workhorses, he vivid green paint gives this one a lively custom look that will make people look twice, nd when they do, hey'll definitely like what they see. The grille has been painted to match the body, bit of a custom touch since most of them were painted white back in the day (chrome was an option). In back, he bed has been finished with light-colored oak boards and more seafoam green paint. Bright chrome bumpers, win taillights, nd step plates on the running boards give it a highly polished look that belies its working class origins. Further design improvements for '54 included a redesigned dashboard with recessed instruments (very nicely restored with matching green numerals in the speedo), he speaker grille bars were now vertical instead of horizontal, nd the upper portion of the dash bulged out slightly over the working section. Finger grips were added to the steering wheel, nd it's still massive enough to make the truck easy to wheel around without power steering. The seat is upholstered in proper brown vinyl, et off by matching cream paint on the dash and door panels, nd it's a nice change from the usual gray found in these trucks. A rubber floor mat and other easy-to-clean materials make maintenance a snap, aking this truck ready, illing, nd able to go to work tomorrow. And for those long drives coming back from the cruise-in, here's an upgraded radio with speakers in the doors that sound pretty good in the compact cab. 1954 was also the year that Chevy finally put the 235 cubic inch inline-six under the hood. Borrowed from the larger Load-Master line, t features full-pressure lubrication, heady 7.5:1 compression ratio, nd aluminum pistons, nd makes a very usable 112 horsepower and 200 pounds of torque. This one is apparently completely stock, till running a single downdraft carburetor with oil bath air cleaner and factory cast iron manifolds, ll of which were often replaced back in the day. The engine bay is tidy and the engine itself has been dressed up with bright blue Chevrolet script on the valve cover and a correct THRIFTMASTER 235 decal on the side. Underneath, here's a 3-speed manual transmission with an ultra-low first gear for real pulling power spinning the original rear end, hich means it's pretty happy at about 50 MPH. It's quite clean with satin black paint and few deviations from stock, o you get the full 1950s experience. Color-matched steel wheels are clean and simple with their polished hubcaps and a set of 6.00-16 BFGoodrich whitewalls really dresses this little truck up.Nice trucks that can be driven and shown with pride are still available, nd they're still very affordable as this '54 Chevy so ably proves.
