Description of 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

When you see a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible like this one, there are a lot of important questions that first come to mine. Is that great color combo the original? (Yes) Is it numbers-matching? (Yes) Is it a four-speed? (Yes) Does it have a lot of great options? (Yes) Is this deal going fast? (Absolutely) Nassau Blue is this car's original color, and it's a great look on a Sting Ray ragtop. Like the hue's namesake, it's bright and sunny, with a very nautical bent to it. On the Corvette's instantly recognizable curves, it looks fabulous. The paint was refinished several years ago, but it retains a level of gloss and shine that's far superior to what the factory offered. You can easily tell from the pictures that the fiberglass is in great condition, and it lines up straight to showcase the creased lines of the C2 body. But the part that you'll really like to know is that all the brightwork is complete and clean from the thin bumpers to the cursive Corvette script on the rear. Of course, the iconic C2's premium appearance would not be complete without the knock-off wheels.Inside, a white vinyl interior is exactly what you want to see. After all the pristine color is a lot of fun to show off, but you also want it easy to keep clean, too. The C2 interior is always a favorite with the now-iconic dual cowl design that's as much a part of the motoring experience as the hum of the engine or rumble of the exhaust. A woodgrained steering wheel feels great, and helps add to the effortless cruiser feeling that comes with the power steering. All the gauges show crisp markings that let you keep an eye on the engine's status. A factory AM/FM radio lives in the center stack, showing off its unique vertical orientation, and yes, even the clock works! You can run comfortably with the wind in your hair through the summer season thanks to air conditioning. But for those few times you're caught out in the rain, you'll have your choice of the white folding roof or the color-matched hardtop. The original, numbers-matching 327 cubic inch V8 under the hood runs superbly, offering the kind of unobtrusive performance that made the small block Chevy world famous. With smooth torque, it's the ideal companion for cruising. Combine this with the four-speed manual transmission, and you're in complete control over the powerband. Now you have the ability to humble some pretty serious machinery in the stop light grand prix. It's presented exceptionally well with a tidy engine bay that features the correct details like the Chevy orange paint on the block, 327 callout sticker on the valve covers, ram's horn exhaust, and the bright distributor shield and air cleaner. There's four-wheel disc brakes for better control, and the gold-strip tires have a nice period-correct look and feel. So this ultra low mileage Corvette (believed to be averaging only 1,300 miles annually) is a great time capsule that can still command the road.Numbers matching, manual transmission Corvettes are always in demand. This one just also happens to have the right factory correct colors in a well-maintained package. So beyond just valuable features, this will always have appeal as a beautiful blue American icon.
