Description of 1938 Chevrolet Other Pickups

I purchased this vehicle in 1998. I am the 4th owner, with the original owner being the Rockefeller estate, known then a Potantico estate. It was a working vehicle for the farm. It was manufactured at the General Motors plant in North tarrytown, New York. I spent 5 years restoring this vehicle. It was located in the woods on a families residence. Its condition was atrocious, bullet holes, decay throughout, an artificial grass mat placed over the hood, upside down. In the restoration, I removed all the body parts that could be removed. All surfaces were stripped of paint, POR-15 additives were used on all metal surfaces following sanding and were primed. Where necessary, fabricated exterior body pieces were made from steel. This included stake holders for the bed and tailgate. New steel skins were used for the external portion of the doors. Other necessary metal parts were secured from similar model vehicles throughout the country. The final painting was with a BASF auto paint, matching the original colors. There is a clear coat also. The engine was rewired and a voltage regulator added. The heater is in place but it does not function. This vehicle is stored indoors from October to May. The spring seats were restored professionally. The battery compartment was expanded under the truck to allow for a larger 6 volt battery to be used. The clutch was replaced in 2001. I have never removed the overhead cam cover. The rear fenders are fiber glass. The odometer did not function when I obtained it. It now functions. I have probably driven it 200 miles in all the years I have owned it.
