Description of 1968 Chevrolet Corvette

Awesome 1968Corvettecurrently utilizing a GMPP 350 and American Powertrain 5-speed (Note: Original 327 and 4-speed INCLUDED in sale!!).
I bought this car in 2012 and it already had the original power-train removed, so I installed a GMPP 350 with a mild cam, headers, intake, and all new other parts, and stored theoriginal(disassembled) 327 and 4-speed (working). Once the power-train was complete (over $7,000), and it runs flawlessly, I performed a 4-wheel alignment, then removed all the exterior trim and carefully mechanically removed all paint to expose the gelcoat. Only one small crack was found which had been repaired in the past....it was completely re-repaired utilizing Sikkens fiberglass polyester repair. The car was then sealed with Sikkens epoxy primer, then 4 coats of Sikkens building primer was sprayed, and over 200 hours spentpreparingthe car for paint utilizing Sikkens custom color matched (to original 1968 dark metallic forest green) and clear coat. The body was blocked, re-primed and so on repeatedly until it was basically better than new before 4 coats of base and 5 coats of clear were applied. I spent over 100 hours prepping the car before my back and shoulder were injured, so the balance of the work, at a cost over $26,000 + $1750 in paint, was performed by a very reputable auto restoration facility. It looks phenomenal.
The interior and top (as new) were recovered in 2012, and the only change made was to add a custom console with LED indicators to show if any lights were bad (to replace the problematic fiber optic system). This is not yet complete but the OEM harness was not damaged so a replacement, original console can be installed if desired.
The tires, brakes, suspension, trailing arms, coolingsystem, alternator and water pump, electronic ignition with new distributor, new 600 CFM carb, and on and on were either rebuilt or replaced. I saved all the old parts, and the car also came with many spares, including the disassembled 327, Quadrajet, other engine parts, spare original mirrors, and many other parts.
I would take this car cross-country anytime without hesitation. It runs just great!
There are a few remaining items to be addressed, as follows:Bumperscould usere-chroming, the new fuel gauge needs calibration (resistor changer), the temp. sender needs replacement, there is a small chip on the trailing edge of the passenger window, there is a small crack under the driver side bumper (not really noticeable), and the wiper motor needs to be replaced (the entire wiper system has been rebuilt though).
My photos include pictures of the spare parts as well as the small crack under the bumper.
I have over $55,000 in the car, the reserve is about a third of that!
You could use this car as-is, restore it easily to show quality, or do whatever you like, but have fun!
