For sale is a stunning frame off restored 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. It is 1 of 80 built in 1971. It has its original 402 Big Block engine and 4 speed transmission. The restoration was completed in the spring of 2005. This car was featured in Hemmings Muscle Machine magazine August 2006 issue. The car has approximately 7500 miles since being restored. There have been 4 owners of this car. The documentation of this car is amazing. The original owner kept a log of every time the vehicle was fueled up or serviced. Other documentation includes the original order sheet, protecto plate, and original keys. The engine was rebuilt with a .010 overbore, the heads were ported and polished, and athree angle valve job was performed. Engine performance was upgraded to an Edelbrock Performer intake, Comp Cams Extreme Energy XE274H cam, with shorty headers and 2.5 inchmandrel bent exhaust with X pipe. The transmission was gone thru and any thing out of spec was replaced. The original paint was GM code 49 Antique Green but was changed during the restoration to a darker GM Saturn Green. The dark green is a base coat/clear coat with a slight metallic hue which has a mirror like finish that is far better than the original. All the original sheet metal is still on it, including floors, trunk, and quarters. The perfection continues to the underside as well, with the correct factory markings and decals. The original interior was changed from green to black and is in show room condition. The instrument cluster was also upgraded to an SS cluster. The aftermarket gauges were added toget a more accurate reading of theengine vitals. The SS cluster uses an idiot light instead of a gauge for the oil pressure. All mechanical systems work as the should. The A/C blows cold(converted to 134a). Power windows were also added during the restoration and work like new and even the 8 track player works. The suspension is all new or restored. The car runs, drives, shifts and stops like new. This is one of the most detailed, original equipped, documented, clean 1971 Monte Carlo you will find. The frame off restoration was performed by Stephen "Monte Man" Levantis with no expense spared. You will not be disappointed with this car. Some items have been changed and the original parts were saved. Some parts include the steering wheel, air cleaner, and distributor. Please ask any and all questions and I will respond as quickly as possible. This vehicle is being sold as is. I will assist with shipping any way I can, but shipping is at buyers expense.
