Description of 1964 Chevrolet Malibu SS

There's only one proper way to rewrite history, and that's with more power. This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS looks like a flawless survivor, but underneath the skin beats a much more aggressive V8 heart and more gears to enjoy it.Chevelles hit the scene in a big way for the first time in 1964, and a genuine Super Sport coupe like this one was a key reason for the success. The design represents the new edge style of the 1960s, especially the flared rear quarter panels that are the car's defining feature. Plus, the crisply contoured hood bears a familial resemblance to its big brother, the Impala. As you look over this coupe, you can see a high-level restoration that has upheld these defining features. It's in the smoothness of the bodywork, the fit of the doors, and the way the super-slick, factory-correct Ember Red paint has been buffed and polished to shine that rivals the trim. The brightwork is excellent on everything from the wide grille to the SS badging, which tells you someone invested a lot in this coupe to keep it looking so good. The only piece that doesn't look straight from the factory are the stylish American Racing Torq Thrust wheels... but let's face it, if this were your SS back in the 60s, you'd do the exact same thing.Open the door, and this time machine continues to deliver the goods. It has period-correct desirable features like the black vinyl bucket seats. They match nicely with the door panels, headliner, and carpeting. The reason why it all feels so fresh is because during the restoration, anything not up to standard was replaced with the correct component. This SS has the great extra wide bright dash with the three round gauge panel and that tachometer is an especially nice feature. But then you start to notice the upgrades like the later model Chevy sports steering wheel, a center console with always-welcomed cup holders, a digital AM/FM/cassette stereo tuner (with CD changer hidden in the trunk,) and ice-cold air conditioning. Oh yes, and you did count the gears correctly on the Hurst shifter. One look under the hood, and you know this Super Sport has been seriously enhanced. The 350 cubic-inch small block looks fantastic with an exceptionally tidy presentation that tells you it has been built with time and care. It's been upgraded with plenty of premium components, including Patriot Freedom-series aluminum heads, Holley aluminum intake, Holley four-barrel carburetor, Chevrolet performance valve covers, MSD ignition, aluminum radiator w/electric fan, and long tube headers that feed the rumbling dual exhaust. Despite all of these modern performance upgrades, this gives a cool nod to its origins with the correct glass bottle washer fluid refill mounted in the engine bay (we bet people will point that out at shows more than anything else!) But going to events also means getting stopping long enough to show this one off. That's will to be tough with great driving features like the power steering, front disc brakes, and sway bar rear suspension. Plus, you're going to love blasting down the backroads while you tick though the upgraded Tremec TKO500 five-speed manual transmission. This amazingly restored Super Sport looks beautifully stock right down to its original owner's manual and warranty card, but underneath the skin is a coupe gone wild. It's already gathering a ton of attention in our showroom so call today!!!
