Description of 1968 Chevrolet Corvette

1968 Corvette Convertible ProjectI bought this Corvette a few years back with the intention of restoring it. but found a big block car that I've decided to restore instead. So. this one is now available for sale. This was a driver with about 47000 miles on it when it was parked back in 1998. I've done most of the disassembly - the interior has all been removed. as well as the engine and wiring harnesses. The door panels are in fair condition and the seats will need to be recovered. Dash is in good driver condition. I've removed the headlight assemblies and don't have pictures of them. but they ARE included with the car. The engine that came with it was a 305. so I tracked down a 1968 327 and tore that down for a rebuild. The block was standard bore and shows very little signs of wear. I have new pistons. rings. and bearings which will go with the engine. The crankshaft needs to be turned. as it seems to be binding when I install pistons 1 and 2. Heads are from a 350 and have been completely rebuilt with less than 500 miles on them. Stamping on the block is 18N430555 V0502MA. and the casting number is 3914678. I've tried to show those in the pictures as best I can. The body is in good shape. with one bad spot on top of the front clip on the driver's side and what looks to be a patch job done on the rear clip on the driver's side. It looks good from the outside. but you can see work done when you get underneath the car. Driver's side floor pan has a sheet metal repair as shown in the pictures. Frame has some surface rust but is very solid. and the notorious dogleg area is solid on both sides. All four calipers have been rebuilt. Front bumper is good condition with some blemishes. rears will need to be replaced or repaired and rechromed. I have the automatic transmission that was in the car when I bought it. and you're welcome to it. but I can't speak to the condition. I don't think it's anything special and doubt it was the original transmission. Hard Top is in fair condition. No soft top. Very good candidate for restoration as a driver. or updating as a resto-rod. Chrome-bumper C3s are getting pretty scarce. especially convertibles. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
