The car is in immaculate condition; it looks greats. runs well. and is an awesome driver. This Corvette is priced to sell. always turns heads. and gets a TON of attention going down the road. There is absolutely no way anyone could duplicate this Corvette with this level of quality for anything near our asking price. The car was restored by a well known Corvette restoration shop in Kentucky. John Garrard of Garrard Corvette. who has a very good reputation in the Corvette community. personally owned this vehicle and completed the restoration on it about nine years ago. The car has been driven just 1. 05 miles since the restoration was completed so it still looks quite fresh. We purchased the car from a friend of the dealership located in northern Kentucky who purchased the car in 2007. He is a hardcore Corvette enthusiast with a few other mid-year Corvettes in his collection. We have purchased a number of Corvettes from him over the years and he is a very conscientious owner and caretaker of his vehicles. Please take the time to peruse each photo. the video. and all the information below to see how truly clean this Corvette really is from top to undercarriage. inside and out. While this Corvette is not completely number matching it does have a 3869942 engine block. which is correct for the 1966 427 Corvette. The engine block also has a 1966 casting date. which is pictured below. The transmission is a numbers matching unit with the last six digits of the car's VIN. 104129. stamped on the main case and pictured below along with the date stamp for any perspective buyer's scrutiny. All of the transmission casting numbers for the individual components are correct. The car also has the correct 3885069 aluminum intake for an L72 Corvette. As a side note. this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette. just give us a call. numbers Please note when checking the numbers to look at not just the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts. but also that all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example. all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. item number description* VIN 194376S104129 The first digit. "1. quot; indicated the Chevrolet division of GM. The "94" is the series. Corvette. The "37" is the body style. 2-door sport coupe. The sixth digit. "6. quot; indicates the model year. 1966. The "S" is the plant where the car was produced. St. Louis. The last five digits are a sequence number so this is the 4. 29th Corvette made for 1966. Body Build Date C14 "C" corresponds to October since this an an A. O. Smith Corvette. and the "14" is the fourteenth day of the month meaning this Corvette's body build date is October 14. 1965. The "10" indicates the tenth month of the year and the "22" is the twenty-second day of the month. So the transmission was assembled on October 22. 1965. We are not sure if this date would be too late or within reasonable limits of time away from the body build date of the car. Transmission Tag 3870354 Attached to one of the bolts on the transmission is a tag with a 3870354 stamping. which indicates this is an M20 wide ratio transmission. Colvin's Corvette by the Numbers and Mike Antonick's Corvette Black Book. condition Exterior The Rally Red exterior is in stunning condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss. deep shine. and smooth glass-like finish. There are no noticeable scratches. scrapes. or cracks in the paint. All of the bright work and chrome is in very nice condition with a brilliant finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels are in excellent condition with absolutely no curb rash. The gold line tires show almost no wear at all. They are radials. which are a radical improvement over bias ply tires in terms of drivability. The frame and everything else on the car is completely solid. I encourage you to inspect the many underside photos to see how truly clean the car is. There are absolutely no rust issues with the car what so ever. The Corvette looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. Window Date Codes Please note that all the side glass. rear glass. and even the vent windows on this Corvette are date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of October 14. 1965 (C14). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage. Interior The red interior of this Corvette is also in fabulous condition. The entire interior was also redone when the car was completely restored just 1. 05 miles ago. The seats are virtually brand and look as they do in the photos with no split seems. rips. or signs of excessive wear. The carpet has no stains. holes. or excessive wear. This included the rear carpet which is often neglected. The dash and console are in nice condition with no cracks. fading. or sun damage. The door panels are in terrific shape and the door pulls are solid. The original radio works and gets decent reception on am. but does not pickup fm stations well. This car has not been smoked in. there are no burn marks and no aroma what so ever. Some buyers may notice that the trim tag for this car calls for black interior. The interior color was changed to red at the time of the restoration simply due to the owners preference. Please do think think this was a cheap color conversion where the original components are simply dyed or sprayed red. Most everything inside the car was replaced with high quality correct components and there is no evidence anywhere. besides the trim tag. that the interior used to be black. The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. Mechanical This car seems to be in very good mechanical condition . The car starts right away every time. runs well. and idles well. The engine was completely rebuilt when the car was restored so it only has 1. 05 miles on it. The car drives great; it feels good the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph. braking to stoplight. and going through some curves. Please note that it shifts well. there are no strange vibrations. and the car performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts well and does not pop out of gear. The clutch feels good. This Corvette has plenty of power and is very very fast. Also. the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. The distributor has been upgraded to a more modern HEI unit that Chevrolet used in later years. The previous owner took the extra effort to install an HEI distributor that is made specifically for a a Corvette with the correct drive for the tachometer. though the tach is a bit sticky. The original distributor. shielded ignition wires. and upper ignition shielding are also included with the car and pictured below. The horn works as does the parking brake. temp gauge. battery gauge. fuel gauge. speedometer. odometer. wipers. and even the clock all work. Both headlights come up as one can see in the video. which is a common problem on mid-year Corvettes. The blower for the heater does not work. nor does the power antenna. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car. especially with the 427 and 4-speed transmission. Overall Condition Overall. this 1966 Corvette is in spectacular condition. Mid-year Corvettes are. and will continue to be. the most collectable and desirable Corvette generation. Of the all the Mid-years the 1965-67 disc brake cars draw a premium over their earlier counterparts. The value of these cars has gone up in recent years and continues to rise. They are all solid investments for a collector. The 1966 427ci big block engine. highly desirable color combination. and the great level of quality in the restoration make this car especially valuable and difficult to duplicate. While this is not an Bloomington Gold show car. it is an excellent Corvette dressed to look just like an L72 that is finished to high standards with many correct components and an outstanding car for the money. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
