Description of 1971 Chevrolet Corvette

While the mid-year Corvettes, those built from 1963 through 1967, get all the ink and command the big prices, the 1968 through 1972 models and beyond are finally getting the respect they've deserved for so long. These cars are still mostly affordable and offer great performance and knockout styling. However, don't wait too long, because the prices of these Stingrays are climbing.

When the 1968 models were introduced in September 1967, the chassis remained virtually unchanged, but the body and interior were completely new, based on the 1965 Mako Shark II show car. The body was sleeker with the windshield wipers being completely hidden, and the headlamps now popped "up" out of the front instead of rotating to the surface as in earlier cars.

The 1968 through 1972 models are actually better-driving cars than their C2 counterparts, and they continued to improve each year. They also handle better at higher speeds than their predecessors, mainly due to aerodynamics. The 1969 and later seats are much more comfortable than the mid-year seats. The 1971 car was far more comfortable. And as time went on, the Corvette rode better and offered more comfort with each successive year.

During the past two years, these cars have been climbing. As long as the government is still printing money and they aren't making any vintage Corvettes, they are a sure bet.

This particular 1971 T-Top Corvette has received a complete frame-off restoration, and has all the photos to prove it! We recently acquired this Vette from its long-term owner, and it is a real beauty! This car was obviously loved, and well taken care of.

The entire body was stripped and re-painted to its original color of Mulsanne Blue. The paint looks amazing as well as all the chrome. This was done professionally, and looks like it! The door gaps are just like factory, and the headlights open and close perfectly.

The interior was completely replaced during the restoration and is extremely comfortable. There are no rips, tears or cracks in the leather. All the interior trim is very nice, and has worn extremely well since the work was done. All the gauges work properly as well as the wiper door!

The 350 L48 engine was completely rebuilt with a mild cam to increase performance, and runs perfectly. It starts right up, idles smoothly and pulls hard when you step on the accelerator.

The 4-speed manual transmission shifts perfectly in and out of gears without grinding or popping out of gear. This was also completely rebuilt during the restoration to provide years of enjoyment without having to worry about a thing! Transferred to an original rear end with a 3:36 gear ratio. Finished off with a beautiful set of Chevy Rally wheels and new Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires.

The early C3 Corvettes are some of the most comfortable Vettes ever, and are really starting to take off in price. Get into this car NOW before the prices get out of control like the 63-67 Corvettes!
