I have come to the realization I need to cut down on a few projects due to time and space constraints. I really wanted to hang onto this 59 El Camino for a future build since they are getting so hard to find in this condition. However, my job keeps me gone the majority of the time and I find I barely have time for my current Hot Rods.
I'm the 3rd owner of this 59 El Camino. First two owners knew each other. Second owner moved to Oregon with the El Camino in the late 60's. The original owner did some typical 1960's customization in the form of interior, Tri Powr 389, and 4 speed manual transmission (Pedals still present).
I looked at several 59 El Camino's before purchasing this one. It is by far the most complete solid example I could find. I found most to be missing their trim or having all the inner structure rotted out. This one has typical wheel lip rust, some spots in the floors and the left front bed corner panels where a wet cardboard box sat for a few years. The bed wall is good. Inner rockers, outer rockers, doors, hood, package tray, window gutters, tailgate are all solid. I'm including some new patch panels for floors and quarter. The passenger fender had an old dent repair so, I spent a ton of time tracking down a perfect patina match fender to replace it as my plan was to fix the floors and bed and roll with the patina.
All the trim is present as well as the dash pieces and bench seat. No tonneau button holes in the trim. This car shows several signs of being driven only 10 years or so. The condition of the rear seat cardboard, spiral shocks, body mounts, hood latch, and inner fender seals correlates this.
Included with the El Camino is a dual quad 348 that was built at a cost over $8,000. I found the engine locally with only 100 miles on it. I got to ride in the car it was installed in and the engine sounded great and had good performance. My plan was to stab the 348 in with a 4 speed behind it.
I'm willing to deliver the El Camino within a 12 Hour distance for a small fee. I'm also willing to help load on your transporter. My next week off is the week of November 12th so, I can deliver it then.
If you are transporting it I recommend having the glass installed first or I can do my best to wrap it for transport.
I need to have my Chevelle repainted and my 55 Truck I'm building painted. If there is a talented Painter in the Northwest; maybe we can work out some sort of deal.
