| Rare 1959 Chevy Apache 32 Long Bed Heavy-Half Ton Built in Baltimore in October 1958 Compete frame-off restoration. This truck has its original door post data plate and VIN plate. installed at the factory. I purchased this truck in 2008 for restoration. It had very little body or frame surface rust and no metal damage. The frame and engine compartments had been protected from rust by old grease and oil. After removing the fenders. hood. cab and bed. all the grease and dirt were removed from the frame. Then all wiring and brake lines were removed so that the frame could be cleaned and painted. After this was done. axles and brakes were cleaned and rebuilt. New king pins were installed by a local frame shop. I rebuilt the brakes and added new lines and a brake booster. The high-compression 350 engine is matched to a Muncie Rockcrusher transmission. both from a 1970 Corvette. with a Hurst Competition Shifter. A local speed shop rebuilt the engine and I did the tranny. o The engine block is a four bolt main large journal. part no. #3970010; o the crank is part no. #3932442; o the heads are 400 with steam holes. part no. #333882; o the intake is the original four barrel. part no. #6263751; o the carb is new Edelbrock 750 electric choke; o with Corvette stainless steel exhaust headers; and o dual 2 ½” exhausts with X pipe. projecting the deep. attention getting. sound of power. The tires have full tread mounted on vintage Rally wheels of yesterday. 10” rear. 8 “ front. A local radiator shop built the custom radiator to match powerplant. The windows are gray tint. The upholstered seat was custom built. The bed has 5/4 grade A oak flooring with stainless steel rails and rubber coated metal sides. Other finish features include: o Stainless chains on tailgate; o New chrome mirrors. door handles with guards. and grill; o Four CAT EYE headlights. /p> All finished off with dark smoke gray metallic body paint. This rare and exceptional head turner looks great and runs great. Very reliable. I have to sell this one to make room in garage for other projects.
