US 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport Frame Off Restored Chevelle SS LS6 454/450 HP V8 4 Speed Convertible Year: 1970 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Red Mileage: 105 Transmission type: 4 Speed Manual Engine: 454 LS6 V8 Interior color: White Vehicle info If you're buying a car to enjoy. the driving experience is a huge part of your decision. Build sheets. Protect-O-Plates. certificates of authenticity they're all great to have. but none of them make the car better. tighter or faster. Not to mention. they tend to command a pretty serious premium. If you've dreamed of ripping through the gears in an LS6 Chevelle but just can't bring yourself to finance $130K. this brilliant convertible is the perfect option. It looks the part. sounds the part and. best of all. FEELS the part. Driven just a few miles since a high dollar. ground-up restoration. it's a fully sorted bruiser that'll devour the road and display proudly any time you feel like stopping. If you're looking for a lot of show AND a lot of go. still your gaze on this stunning A-Body!There was no shortage of great color options for the legendary Chevelle. but it's hard to argue the effect Cranberry Red has on the car's sturdy lines. Recently massaged and sprayed. this glossy Chevy looks great decked in white Super Sport stripes and thoroughly buffed clear. Shut lines look straight all around. with rockers. doors and fenders that work well together. And the end result is one high caliber classic that features first-rate bodywork throughout. Many enthusiasts believe the '70 Chevelle introduced a host of excellent refinements which transformed the 'good' design of Chevrolet's '69 model into something 'great'. At the front of this retro road rocket. a "CHEVELLE" branded grille hangs a fresh and prominent "SS" emblem between stainless-seated T3s. clear marker lamps and a thick chrome bumper. Above that bumper. a cowl induction hood anchors traditional lanyards and rebuilt Hide-A-Way wipers at the base of like-new glass that's flanked by straight stainless frames and a bright white top. Opposite that top. subtle "SS454" badges combine with dent-free fender trim. traditional chrome door handles and a flashy chrome mirror to add visual detail to the car's vivid profile. And at the back of that profile. a second chrome bumper hangs a black Super Sport inlay between clear brake lamps. a fresh "Chevelle by CHEVROLET" emblem and polished exhaust tips. Although the second generation Super Sport's ferocious Turbo Fire V8 was conservatively rated at 450 horsepower. it actually punched the dyno somewhere north of 500. Pull this classic's stainless hood pins and you'll find a correct cowl induction system that's cleanly integrated into a completely finished. Satin Black frame. At the center of that frame. a correctly decaled. single-snorkel air cleaner forces oxygen into a big Holley carburetor and correct Winters intake. At the back of that intake. a traditional points distributor sequences fire through high quality Packard TV R Suppression cables. Below those cables. correct exhaust manifolds and old school emissions hardware add value and exclusivity. And in front of that hardware. GM hoses channel water past a correct fan and rebuilt alternator with the help of a beefy radiator and familiar tower clamps. During the car's extensive restoration. the big Chevy was completely overhauled and decked in glossy orange paint. And. from its Delco battery and mirrored valve covers all the way to its stainless fluid lines and fresh brake booster. the monster mill looks much nicer than anything that left GM's factories. Naturally. this convertible's road-ready chassis has been restored to the same high standards as the aforementioned body panels and engine compartment. A nice coat of Satin Black paint provides a great foundation for a slew of tags. paint marks and factory-accurate details. Behind the stout big block. an M22 Muncie 'Rock Crusher' sends power to a correct posi-traction rear end that's equipped with meaty. 4. 10 gears. Holding that killer drivetrain off the ground is an option F41 double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension. which is equipped with factory power steering. heavy duty sway bars. boxed rear control arms and stiffer springs. The car's rebuilt power front disc and rear drum brake system is present. accounted for and functions exceptionally well. The aforementioned exhaust manifolds dump spent gases into true-dual pipes that breathe through factory replacement mufflers and rear-mounted resonators. And power flows to the pavement via stylish Super Sport wheels and F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas tires. The car's frame. free of any major damage. is finished in satin to complement its rust-free floors. And. in keeping with its raucous 454. much attention has been paid to making sure everything under this Chevelle is clean. mean and ready to go!Featuring a host of new components. and decked in bright Ivory vinyl. this convertible's fully restored interior feels both comfortable and inviting. Its slick front bucket and rear bench seats. which feature embossed weave patterns that were designed to keep passenger's backs cool. show hardly any signs of wear. In front of those seats. a straight and crack-free dash hangs a deluxe Chevelle gauge cluster above correct climate controls and a Delco AM radio. Below that dash. fresh black carpet. which is protected by rugged rubber floor mats. centers a chrome Muncie shifter inside an attractive. stainless-trimmed console. At the sides of that carpet. clean door panels hang spotless "SS" emblems between crank windows and factory door locks. In front of the driver. a satin-spoked Chevrolet Rally Wheel keeps everybody pointed in the right direction. And behind the passengers. a fully restored trunk centers a full-size spare tire and correct jack assembly between a new mat and correct decklid decals. At roughly half the cost and twice the fun of a numbers-matching piece. this killer Chevelle is the total package. With a powerful LS6. tough Muncie 4-speed and first class restoration. it's a fully-sorted classic that virtually spells the term "bragging rights".
