A little about theZR-1history and performance specs:TheZR-1has11 inch wide rear wheels and 315/35/17 rear tires. Thebody of the vehicle had to be modified toaccomodatethe sizeof the wheels, so theZR-1got a unique body treatment including wider doors andrear quarter panels. The tail lights, undercarriage, suspensionand exhaust are also unique to theZR-1model. The engine was designed in a joint effort between GM and Lotus, which GM owned at the time. Its a four cam design with 32 valves and produces375HP. Published performance figures state a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds. Lotus Engineering also designed the newFX3active adjustable suspension for theZR-1model.

Although theZR-1was extremely quick (0-60mph in 4.4 seconds, and onto 180+ mph), the huge performance of theLT5engine was matched by its robustness. As evidence of this, a stockZR-1set a number of international and world records at a test track in FortStocton, Texason March 1, 1990, verified by theFIA(FederationInternationaledel'Automobile), including seven new international records:
