Description of 1936 Chevrolet Other

1936 Chevrolet Standard CoupeOriginal Stovebolt 6 cylinder engine3 speed. floor shifted manual transmissionOriginal interior with Mohair seatsOriginal. unrestored factory black paint Doors open and close easily. wood in great conditionTires in good condition but are showing age. not usageModern 12volt electrical system installed superficially for brake lights and turn signals. Can be removed for 100% originality. This wonderfully original 1936 chevy was resuscitated from long term storage (30+ years) in 2008. All mechanical restoration was done at that time. This car starts easily and the car runs and drives just as it did in 1936. which is to say. it is very happy at 45mph. but not much faster. Brakes are in excellent condition. the transmission shifts well. steering is as precise as can be expected. It's an amazing example of this period of auto manufacturing. The following restoration work was completed in 2008. -The oil pan was pulled and all the bearings checked for clearance. The engine appears to have been overhauled at some point. but no further internal work was required. -New fuel tank. rebuilt fuel pump and carburetor. all lines and hoses replaced. -Wheel cylinders. and master cylinder. as well as all brake lines and hoses were replaced. -radiator and engine were completely flushed and new hoses and coolant added. -new exhaust installed. -generator checked and found to be functioning perfectly. -added a complete separate 12v system for turn signals and tail/stop lights. Uses the battery in the trunk. and trailer wiring. Easily removed if it is not wanted. This is a true barn find. survivor car that you can drive. -it has very little rust. -99. 9% complete. only know missing part is the hood ornament. -Seat is in amazing shape-door panels are decent-all gauges work-new battery in '2014-Clear Iowa title and current registration in hand. I wouldn't buy it and drive it cross country. but certainly it's a wonderful Sunday driver. It's a reliable car that would be an excellent restoration candidate or drive it as it is.
